What model Prao do you have and did you have reversing camera beforehand?

Mine is a 150 series gx prado, I pretty sure they fit easily in the 120 series all models. This one I think might only be good in gx model of the 150 series. I never had a reverse camera to start with. I jst tapped into my trailer feed reverse to get power. I have to run another wire so the camera comes on with out pushing buttons

I bought one of those Chinese units as well. It duely arrived, quality of build is excellent, unfortunately they sent me the version that is without the 45 watt amp built in. Only has pre-outs looking for amp. Only a few of the plugs fit the prado plugs and hence, I haven't got it working yet. I've contacted the supplier several times, but they just keep insisting that it is a 45 watt unit, but I know what i' m talking about as I've been around radio electronics for 35 years. I' m going to try to add an amp and match up the rest of the wiring by trial and error. If anybody out there has any wiring diagrams that may help me, I'd appreciate a copy. So for any body looking to get one of these, just make sure ther is a fan and heatsink on the back panel of the DVD player, which will be for the cooling of the 45 watt amp.

I must say that I didn't notice the heatsink or fan but it has all been installed and works fine. Only problem is that I have been unable to link up the reversing camera and the media outlet in the consul for the VX. I do have 2 USb and one Ipod connection now in the glovebox. I will see what I can do for you with regard to the wiring diagrams but I am holidays at the moment and will do it when I get back.

Thanks for the reply, the heatsink is just a thick (about 3 mm) aluminium panel, making up the rear box of the DVD player. The fan is behind a large round hole in that panel. The non 45 watt players, just use the same material as the rest of the box is made of. I ended up setting it all up on my workbench, and as I suspected, it all works, except there is only a low level of audio output, certainly not enough to drive speakers. The system is very impressive all the same, makes you wonder how the car dealers can justify 10 times the price for essentially the same thing. Anyway, I've sussed out all the connections, but will need to source the matching amp as the player only has left and right audio, which will rely on the 45 watt amp to control the balance and fader, via TX data from the player (hope that makes sense).

                      Enjoy your hols.

                        Radio and sound great.
Blue tooth - good quality, had to install extra microphone.
A couple little issues with silver covers but this was overcome.

                        2 issues:

Reversing camera, could not find the wires for this, does anyone have a description of wire colours for camera and what plug houses those wires.
You lose the USB plug in the centre console but gain 2 extras plus a proper Ipod plug now located in glovebox.

I have written to IPmart to see if there is a patch cable available.

Any assistance here will be greatly appreciated.

I will write a review once I get everything going.

The reversing camera is now working, not that hard once you sort out the wires. As far as the USB plus an easy fix but the console will need to come out so I will leave that one until I install the UHF at a later date. Overall the unit is fabulous, can be a bit slow if you plug an MP3 with a zillion songs as it tries to upload the song list first but this is an issue for most audio units. I have overcome the issue by simply using an old MP3 player with 1gig of storage, it is now almost instantanious, it charges the MP3 player as well.

Bought a Scangauge II on Ebay last night for $122, should be here tomorrow for me to have a play.

Re: What aftermarked radios will fit the top-slot of the 150 ?

I ended up ordering a second DVD GPS system (I made sure it was a 45 watt unit this time). It arrived the other morning, so I spent the next few hours fitting it to my GXL. It was mostly plug and play, except the reversing camera needed to be rewired to suit the new system. I also did the selectable view of reversing camera modification. The system is nearly identical to the one shown earlier in this thread, except mine is for the GXL, meaning the hazard switch also has the reversing alarm indicator situated in the same hole of the panel next to the display.
This caused a minor problem, as in the factory unit has it placed to the right of the screen, whereas the aftermarket units have them to the left of screen. This of course is due to them only built for left hand drive cars. It was just a matter of doing a bit of a "Macgyver" to reposition it. The end result still looks factory, except it's on the left.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the system, particularly the fact that it is a fraction of the cost of a factory job. The biggest learning curve is the IGO GPS software, it's certainly no Garmin in the ease of use department. I've downloaded a user manual, which has been helpful. All other functions work well and are easy to navigate around, although I still need to hook up the factory USB slot ( I'm currently just using the supplied lead to play music direct from a thumb drive). If anyone has any questions on anything related to this unit and installation, I'd be happy to try to answer them.

As for the first unit I received (the one without a built in audio amp), I'd be happy to sell it. But only to a VX owner, as it will be plug and play due to that models separate audio amp from factory. For GXL and GX owners, you'd have to source the correct amp. Your friendly Toyota dealer has them for around $1,000. Alternatively you could risk getting the wrong model on Ebay, but at least they are cheap.

Ok, here's a pic of the system (taken with iphone, will use SLR next time).

We just traced the appropriate pins for the reversing camera and then connected it up, what do you mean by "I also did the selectable view of reversing camera modification"

We simply remanufacted the original covers by removing mounting points and using the famous glue gun to secure. I have kept the hazard switch on the right but the micro card can't be accessed easily, I need to unclip the climate controls to access it. I would be interested to hear what you are doing with the original USB plug.
