  • Gaps in the toolbox - what's in yours

    Hello,

I'm in Gabon (west central Africa) and just took delivery of a new Prado 150. It was the most basic model available here, which I think corresponds to a TX according to the normal model codes (bog standard 150 diesel).

My problem is that the toolbox which was supplied (the one which fits in the space in the rear door) has a couple of gaps. The dealer here tells me this is entirely normal, and all the Prados shipped from Japan are missing those tools. I find this a bit difficult to believe.

I'd very much appreciate it if 150 owners here could let me know:
    - did your 150 come with a complete toolbox?
    - based on yours, what's missing from mine (photo attached)? The spanner I can guess but the rest is a bit trickier

All help appreciated so I can sort this out. Thanks a lot!

    Welcome to PP
Looks like you are missing a pair of pliers from the very top position and probably a tubular spark plug spanner but being a diesel you don't need that one.

Please visit the link below and tell us a bit about yourself, your vehicle and your location.

I'm On the Sunny Coast in Queensland Australia, and also went back to the dealer for the same reply you received. I have a Kakadu (which is the Australian Prado top model) and my tool kit is exactly the same as yours --

I've got the Diesel 150 and my rear tool box looks exactly like yours. Missing a couple things on the top. I think the toolbox is a generic template...

Mine is missing the pliers and the 8/10mm spanner.
I had some in the shed that fitted so it was no big deal and I tend not to use open end spanners anyway.

Same in the UK - most bits missing - but I got them to take out the double headed screwdriver out of a newly shipped in 150 and stuck that in mine which was the only thing missing (from what should have been in it for UK models) ..... as far as I could tell ......

                    Mate,
I have just taken delivery of the Kakadu model here in Australia and mine looks the same as yours, must be "Toyota" standard.

Tools in rear door of 2009 Prado 150

I recently bought a 2009 Prado 150 and there are a few blank areas in the tool storage in the rear door.
Could somebody please advise what's missing, or what these blanks are intended to hold?

1st pic has quite a few missing. Note that some spaces are for the V6 spark plug removal tools. If you bought a diesel, there will be some tools missing by default but you are missing more than normal.

As for the 2nd pic, that is usually empty.

I would have thought that the pliers and 8/10mm spanners should have been included.

So what do people put in the second area? Fire extinguisher, recovery gear?
