Does anyone know the Toyota procedure and cost for a transmission fluid service? When I purchased my Prado second hand the service manager said they'd do it for free but I suspect this was just a basic drain and fill without removing all the old fluid via flushing that fills the torque converter etc. Surely such an exercise would be rather expensive unless the service guy was being generous!
Although at first I was a bit annoyed at the Prado's sealed/non dipstick transmission, I read an interesting piece regarding the new Toyota WS transmission fluid they are using and it seems to be top quality stuff. A Toyota Tacoma driver had a Blackstone oil analysis performed on the WS fluid that had close to 100,000km on it without a single change - the lab reports indicated that the oil was in pretty good shape. Although it's always nice to be able to check the fluid on a stick it's good to know its doing its job so well.
