  • Interior Light replacement and LED upgrade

I am looking at upgrading all the interior lights to an LED equivalent and trying to figure out how to remove the clear covers.
As the bus is still newish and sort of shiny, I don't want to get too excited with a flat blade screwdriver, but I guess that might be the only option.

Looking at LED's from http://www.ledshoponline.com as I have purchased from them before and very happy with the price, quality and light output.

    cheers

    Hi
Yes they come off easily with a small flat blade screwdriver. You will see the little squares on the edges of the cover, place the screw driver in there. Hold your finger in between the screwdriver and the hood lining and lever gently. Do this on both ends on one side.

      Hi Peter,

      Thanks for the confirmation.
Got in and had a good look at the actual lamps and internal mounting and found that front passenger door light wasn't even connected ..... thought that it was just that the lamp had blown, but the wiring loom was tucked up in behind part of the panel with at least a 3 inch spark gap. Wonder if it has been like that since manufacture or someone has been in there before.
Anyway I can now order the respective LED replacements. Just have to decide on warm white or cool white. Will post when complete.

      Cheers

Ok , can't get the lamps out the "map lights" up in the center console either side of the sunglass holder. Got the covers off Ok, but the wedge lamp is well ...... wedged. Apart from grabbing it with a set of pliers and reefing it out, I just can't quite seem to get enough grip or maneuver room pull it with fingers.

        Any ideas ?

        Cheers

Hi Fellas. Just replaced my interior lamps with LED. Rear was piece of cake with a globe from Dick Smiths but had to get a kit from Repco to do centre unit. Don't believe blurb regarding LED's running cold - these units get reasonably hot after a while and remember - they are polarity sensitive. Cheers, Derb.

Small bit of tube plus a set of pliers did the trick - thanks.

Definitely a T10 wedge in the 150, not a bayonet, but thanks anyway.

                  150 GXL LED replacement bulbs

                  Dear folks,

I have obtained some LED replacement bulbs for my 150 GXL and I am seeking some advice please so I can avoid undue damage. I am wanting to remove the interior overhead map light bulbs, and repalce them with the LED "bulbs", but just wanted some help with accessing the bulbs please. Anyone who has accessed the two overhead map reading lights, would you be so kind as to explain the best way to access these bulbs. Do I need to remove the entire light assembly (including the sun glass compartment and rear conversation mirror etc, or can I somehow just remove the white light lens cover to access the bulbs. Some advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Have done this before and all you need to do is only remove the plastic light covers. It can be a bit tricky but all i used was one of those really small flat screw driver things to pry open the light covers. The light fittings themselves can also be a bit hard to remove but the new lights are worth it. Good Luck

                      Thanks Newby.

When I look at the white plastic light lens, I notice that it pivots at the front edge and you press near the rear edge to active athe light itself. I didn't wabnt to brak the hinge or the hinge pin, so justto be clear. When you use a flat driver, do you prise open the cover from near the front edge (where the lens itself is hinged) or from the rear edge that moves quite a bit when you press on it? Sorry to be a pain, but I have had a gentle attempt, but baulked as I don't want it to snap or shatter.
                      Thankyou.

Does anyone have a list of globe types to purchase for full LED interior lighting to save me reinventing the wheel?
