    Re: Mickey Thompson STZ

They look similar to the Cooper Zeon LTZ http://www.coopertires.com.au/index....yres&tyre_id=9 which has a great report so far.

      Re: Mickey Thompson STZ

Just a thought, not sure if anyone can help; seeing as these tyres have been in US for a while - anyone know of a good american 4wd review/discussion site?
Looking at all this rubber is starting to do my head in..........one way or another I'll be going with a Mickey.

If you google the tire I am sure it will show up some feedback, there is a site in US called " Tire rack" I think that normally has reveiws.

I've heard they're a bit too noisy on bitumen, at speed...

                      Ownership report: STZ's after 1000km:

Great tyres. Virtually no extra tyre noise noticeable. Good on dirt, (they do pick up stones in the tread). Very good in wet bitumen city conditions.
No sign of wear yet... still have the dimples on the tyres.

                      Roll on Cape York!
                      Rob.

STZ's on the Prado: ( 265/65R17 - a lot more tread width actually on the ground than standard tyres)

Nice. Looking at the view of the spare it certainly does looks like more tread width than the standard 265/65R17. By rights a hard wheel cover should still fit over this tyre. Have you tried as shmbo wants the cover to remain. Worst case I just go with 4 tyres and keep the spare standard. (265/65 anyway...)

Sorry - don't have a hard wheel cover to check fitting...
The standard grandtrek tyre is theoretically the same width as this (at it's maximum) - it's just this tyre maintains that width down to the tread (more or less), whereas the grandtrek had only 220mm width actually touching the ground (I measured it!)
                                Rob.
