      Hi all,
is somebody aware of a database were I can validate the data from the Rim Size & Offset Database of the factory fitted rims?
      E.g. the 120 GX /came with standard 17x6" ET15?

I found in the past a spec database including much more details than the manufacturer spec sheets like vehicle dimensions, height, with etc.
Not sure if it was including details like rim offset but but cant find it any more.

It would be handy to have a printout in the car in case that a eager policeman is questioning whether you are still in the ADR compliant range of offset, tire width etc.

      Any ideas?

      Cheers
      Michael

To use this list successfully, you need to do the following:
      1. Look up the wheel size and offset for your current vehicle. (note: If you have a GX or Standard Prado, you can change to wider wheels. In this case, use the next model up as a point of reference.)
      2. Look down the list and find the wheel(s) with the same offset or lower.
      3. The wheel diameter and width is then up to you. There are various things to consider when choosing diameter and width, so I won't go further into this here.
      4. Make sure you double check with the tyre shop or search through Pradopoint for other members who have successfully made a swap.

The list is currently incomplete. Please advise if you have something to add (including any corrections) and I will maintain this first post.

      Some fitment notes and guide:
      • A 16" rim can't fit onto a 120 due to interference with the front brake calipers. However, it can fit on the rear of the 120.
      • It is illegal to reduce the track of a vehicle. Therefore, you can't fit a 120 GXL alloy onto a 150.
      • On the 150, you can change the VX/Kakadu 18" rim to the GXL 17" rim. Speedy Avalanche 17x7.5 also fit. viewtopic.php?f=55&t=12335&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

I have a simple question. Will the following fit my 120 2009 Grande:

        Dick Cepek Torques
        Dick Cepek Gun Metal 7
(I already know Dick Cepek DC-2's wont... very annoyed.)

Or what other rims will. Every time I find a decent wheel/rim, I find out they don't make it to fit.
The table needs to be adjusted to say what sizes (for a 120) will fit ie 7.5 to 8, -x offset to
-/ +ve offset etc. Kind of like a Wheel chart for dummies, except real simple as I have trouble reading the "for dummies" books.

mlc, confused, alone and in the foetal position trying to come to grips with wheel cjhoices.....

The DC2's will fit... They'll just stick out 60mm further than the current wheels. You definitely won't have any clearance issues on the inside of the wheel though..

I think side bitters are 17 x 8, 0mm offset. They're the one's I want, look bloody awesome. Seen them fitted to Hilux with MTZ's.

                  Hey Guys....

This might not be the right spot to post this and I'm "not" looking to do it either, but I just thought I would ask this silly question regarding 16" rims onto a 150's series.... I know about the legal side of things, but I was just "wondering" if u got the right offset 16" (more so probably a negative offset) rim as to whether is would fit on the front of the 150's series??

The reason I ask is I found out that I can do this on my Navara Ute. That if I wanted to, I could fit 15" with a <0 offset instead of the current std 16". For example, an old 15" RFS landcruiser's rim will onto a Navara D22 and will miss the front brake calipers. So, in the same situation, say would a 80's rim with a neg offset fit onto the Prado's and still miss the caliper?

Now, I "don't" plan to do this, but it's nice to know what options there are in case of a emergency.....

                    Michael,

If you choose to fit different size rims, you will need to keep in mind several factors:
                    1. Legally, you must not exceed the track limits for your state. eg, it is illegal to reduce the track but I'm not sure how much you can increase the track by.
                    2. Legally, the tyre and rim must not protrude past the body. Simple way of overcoming this is by fitting flares.
                    3. Legally, the rims and tyres must not come in contact with other parts of the car.

And to address MLC's post, there is no simple way of determining what can fit based on a range of offsets or rim widths.

The 1st thing to look at is the offset as this will determine your wheel track. Do not go for more positive offset as that will reduce your wheel track. Go for lesser offset.

2nd thing is to look at how much further out the outside face of the rim is compared to factory spec. To do this, you need the following equation:

                    Protrusion outside face of rim = 25.4 x (Wnew - Wfactory)/2 + (OSfactory - OSnew)

                    Where:
W = rim width in inches
                    OS = offset in mm
Result of the equation is in mm

The 3rd thing is to check clearance to the UCA. To do this, you need the following equation:
                    Change of clearance to UCA = -[25.4 x (Wnew - Wfactory)/2 - (OSfactory - OSnew)]

If result is +ve, there is an increase in clearance

I have added the above info to the first post.
I have created an Excel spreadsheet, so send me an email at [email protected] if you would like a copy.

If these are going on a 150, the above rim will be 31.35mm further out and an increase of 18.65mm clearance to the UCA.

Looks like the Gun Metal 7's have a +25 offset in the 17x8.5. Presume this would fit.

I also like the Allied Hammer in the Black/Machined finish. +20 offset in 17x8.

Because the offset is the same it splits that extra inch evenly to inside and outside of wheel.

Meaning you will lose 13mm clearance on inside. But it will also only sit 13mm further out on outside.

To maintain the clearance the standard wheels have you need an offset of +12 or less with an 8.5 inch wide wheel.

Edit: this is for a 150. On a 120 you need an offset of +17 or less to maintain standard clearance.
