  • In a similar vein to the last question, has anyone managed to mount recovery points to their FL 150 which has a genuine toyota nudge bar fitted?

Judging by their website I suspected they would not, what was the problem that meant they could not fit?

        • The bar mounting points got in the way and the mechanics weren't prepared to bodgey it up,no biggy really as I'm going to update to an aftermarket bar at some stage anyway.

          • Chappy,

Have you got a photo of the bullbar mounts?

            • Hi All,
Just read through the whole thread and still not sure how those of you with KDSS have managed to install recovery points to the drivers side. Lots and lots of pics. of the passenger side but I couldn't see any of the drivers side that has the hole blocked for cars with KDSS.
So my question is those of you that have KDSS and have managed to get the points mounted. How did you do it? Any chance in getting a photo or two up?

              Thanks

              • Phew! What a read.

So after such a long thread, I'm wondering if anyone has installed one or two ARB recovery points on their 150s? I've heard that some plastic section needs to be cut. I've also heard you may have to drill a hole into the chassis. I just wanted to confirm what has been people's experience. I've installed some other ARB gear and their instructions are usually comprehensible. But obviously they don't supply instructions unless you've purchased the product.

                    Here you go :-

Unfortunately a badly trimmed inner guard liner is blocking part of the view but I have 2 bolts in this point on my Kakadu, the other is at the front towards the bar itself. This is for a TJM T13 bar.

This is on the passenger side, same vehicle.

                      • What's up with your guards fido? Any reason they're screwed to the plate on the t13 bar?

I have the t13 as well and the guards are just tucked behind the section yours are screwed to. I thought they would need a bit of play as the chassis moves separate to the body.

                        • For those asking, I fitted a set or ARB recovery points to my Prado a few weeks back. I had to drill a hole in the chassis for the extra bolt, and also use some washers to pack the recovery points out so they sit properly. Will take photos if anyone is interested. Have also done some on a D-Max and a 70 series

I was interested in this. Thanks for the info. Why the drilling and washers? Weren't your arb recovery points designed for the Prado?

Also were the ARB instructions helpful for the install? I am assuming so, since arb usually does a good job with Instructions. But I have assumed that with some other mods I've installed and been shocked at how little instruction was provided.

                            • I have a TJM bar, so slightly different to the ARB one. And as this was thev3rd set I have fitted to different vehicles I was aware how crap ARB's instructions are.

I think the reason for drilling holes was because the TJM bar has a different mounting set up, with less holes.

Also, ARB use a "Rivnut" for one of the holes which I did not want to do, so I drilled call the way through and used a crush tube I had leftover instead. I love rivnuts, I use them all day everyday, but not for something that requires a lot of strength.

                              • Hi Guys, first time on forum and pretty new to my Prado, so please help point me in the right direction.

Got a new 2017 GXL a couple of week ago and fitted it with a toyota genuine bullbar. I have been trying to find some clear information about mounting front recovery points on a 2017 P150 that has this bullbar, and it is surprisingly difficult to get the info i am after. seems pretty easy to find detailed product and mounting guides for 120 series or for 150's that have the ARB bullbar, but not the toyota bar.

finally bit the bullet and bought http://www.marks4wd.com/rppra150.html from what i can tell after physically holding the red ARB recovery points, these are basically the same product, but yellow As per other products, there is no specific info about attaching these points when a toyota bullbar is already mounted, however when i hold them up to the two main bolt locations, the only thing to note is that the passenger side BB mount has a thick black washer spacer. I assume that this washer needs to be used to pad-out the recovery point bracket, by the thickness of the existing bullbar bracket?

it would be a HUGE help if someone has already done this and can help me out with some tips and traps? does anyone know if the main chassis bolt at the bottom of the bullbar is one that has a floating nut on the back in the chassis, that i will need to try and fish out when i unbolt the bullbar, or is this bolted straight into a thread in the chassis?

                                thanks in advance!
                                Floyd.
