  • Recovery Points

I know there is a thread out there about recovery points for the front but for the life of me I cannot find it. Thanks to google I found it... http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...0-Series/page3

Just doing my usual Sunday night troll on ebay and noticed FNB4WD selling new Outback Ideas Recovery Points on Ebay for the 150...

    Link here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Outback-R...c#ht_826wt_907

Now I thought, finally some are available, then I read this...
PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE NOT A RATED RECOVERY POINT AND SHOULD BE USED ACCORDINGLY ALTHOUGH THEY ARE QUITE STRONG THEY ARE NOT A RATED RECOVERY POINT

WTF? In my opinion I am better off sticking with my OE ones as it appears they mount onto the same spot. Just my 2c.

    Back to Ebay, cheers Daniel

My understanding is that nobody is providing “rated” recovery points any more due to the legal implications if one was to break. I think this is about as good as we are going to get and would be rated if we (all people) were not trying to sue each other to make a quick buck.

Mmm, whilst I agree with your comments Outback Ideas and other suppliers make rated points for other vehicles, including the 120. TJM, ARB etc do not make recovery points (or build them into thier bars) any more due to that reason but there are still people out there making them and clubs requiring there installation prior to joining... I was hoping we would get one soon for the 150 however I am happy to stick with my equaliser strap and OE front points for the time being.

The Ebay link are not the Outback ideas Point. Apart from the picture being totaly wrong!

The Point Richoson has are the Outback Ideas ones (genuine) and they are rated fairly high.

We sell the Outback ideas one and we can post or your Local ARB store should be able to get them from me if you like!

Thanks Giles, do you know if they will fit with a TJM bar? If so I shall give you a call tomorrow to order a set. Thanks.

                  Giles,
Have you found a way to post fit the recovery points to the ARB bar?? without removing the bar?

Im pretty sure it will! but we would have to take a look at it! I thought both the ARB and TJM bars went on very much the same way.

We need to confirm this tho.

                      Hey Ken,

No it has to come off.

Which is a pain but it's all we have to work with!

Yes they will fit with a TJM bar & the TJM bar does not have to come off to fit them.
But I did have to measure & drill a hole in each one as the rear bolt securing the TJM bar is in a different spot than where the ARB bar is secured.
However, be careful with the nut, because when you undo it it will fall inside the chassis. If you have a close look you may find that a bit of wire has been welded to the nut to assist, check just inside the inspection hole as the wire on mine had been cut off & poked inside the chassis.

                        Good luck!

                        Cheers
