        G'day Silvo
Do they source their steps from OAQ in Queensland? Looking at your photos they appear to be exactly the same as the pictures OAQ sent me of their's. I am still waiting for them to arrive so I can't confirm that they are the same. There is a picture of a Prado with sidesteps on the front of an Ironman brochure which also appear to be exact replicas of the OAQ ones. It wouldn't surprise me if they all came from the same place.

rock sliders/side steps can be made to take a hell of a beating even from 2 points, with the 120 it was the mounting of the sliders on the passenger side that was the problem, ie 2 fuel tanks sitting on the passenger side chassis rail, but if you do it properly 2 points will do it no worries. but the only thing about diy is the legality side, it will do the definately do the job but insurance is the thing, if it goes to pooh. cheers samo

I also have the OAQ side steps and have put a big ding in the driver side one!
Considering how strong tube steel is it must have been one hell of a hit! The Factory steps would have been broken in half.

Yeah I looked at that but we're talking about the 150 here not the 120 or 90 series.

I have checked with Andrew & I can confirm that he is not (at this point in time anyway) making sliders / steps for the 150's.

Yep, sure is! but I have been on to Powerful 4x4 & they do have them in stock, but are not allowed to sell them until the final tests are carried out (SOON I HOPE)

Sorry guys, already got plenty to do making sliders for the old rigs, sounds like there are a few options coming on line for the 150 series though. I do think those OAQ steps look a bit on the light side, no doubt better than the standard steps, but certainly not as strong looking as the 90 and 120 series ones I make. For those that want to compare mine have the main rail made from 75 x 50 x 3mm RHS, outer rail is 3.3mm wall thickness 40mm NB tube (50mm OD), mounting legs are 50 x 50 x 4mm RHS with 65 x 8mm mounting plates, bolted on with 12mm x grade 8.8 high tensile galv bolts or U bolts. Oh and 1.6mm alloy tread plate on the step.

                        Cheers Andrew

This is from the Powerful 4x4 website.

                          STEEL ROCK SLIDERS

"The ultimate in side protection, the Powerful 4x4 rock slider steel side steps, are the latest addition to carry the Rock Armor label. Originally designed for off road competition use only, Powerful 4x4 decided to bring the rock sliders into its touring market collection.

The Rock Sliders are made from 3mm premium steel and reinforced with 2.5mm inner tubing. Connected to your vehicle with 3 chassis mounts, you can rely on these rock sliders to give your vehicle the ultimate protection from anything!"

Apparently they are just waiting for approval to sell them.

                          Waiting Waiting Waiting.

                          Cheers

Anyone sold their factory steps? Being expensive OE items, I imagine they would be attractive to GX owners. Might be able to substantially offset the cost of steel ones???

Wonder how much the Powerful 4x4 steps will be.

I wonder of GX owners would like to buy my "pre shaped banana" versions Still even with the slight bends they haven't hit the panels and I don't mind the idea of a bit of give in them.

                              Regards, Richo.

What do you reckon (straight) GXL side steps are worth 2nd hand on eBay? What are they worth new?

Any GX owners want to make me an offer?
