    Hi,
I also have lights on the roof ((rhino rack (front and rear) when camping etc)) and I have two options, I ran a cable up the side of the windscreen - you will find there is enough room for a couple of cables under the black plastic which surrouns the windscreen and then i siliconed over the top of it, and its practically impossible to see. I then continued this cable up over the door and 'clamped' it under a rack mounting point and then up into the rack.
I also installed a connection lead in the back on the same removable pannel that the household style wall 12v socket is installed in. I have this new connection on a seperate switch to my driving lights and can turn it on and off independantly. I just use this for quick hook ups and the cable hangs loose inside the rear area...could probably hide it under the pannels if i really needed to.

most important thing is no drilling etc needed..once the cabling is hidden everything looks as though its made to be there!

I don't think I will be able to go a Rhino Tray just yet as I have height issues with the garage door so I can't plan on installing a LED worklight in the same spot as Derek. I have installed an Oztrail RV Awning onto just the two Toyota ( Rhino ) Sportz Bars and was thinking that I might be able to install a worklight near the end of the aluminium extrusion. It seems sturdy enough but I am thinking I should probably run a brace back to the roof bar just to make sure.

      Thoughts ?

      Picture for clarification

      cheers

        Hi Roo,

Pulling the whole thing off wasn't really an option I had thought of. I then would have to figure out where to put it when its off the vehicle
I suppose if I rig up some hooks in the ceiling in the garage I should be able to hang the whole contraption up there in between trips.
The minister for war and finance has just approved a purchase of a 1.5m Rhino tray after tax time, so I guess I will have to hang on for another few weeks.

        cheers

I found the best place to get the cable into the car was behind the LH Tail lamp, remove the two bolts and pull the tail lamp backwards and it will pop out of its clips.

Remove the rubber grommet and take note of the gap in the body panels.

Push the cable down between the gap and it should exit in the jack cavity.

Make sure you have enough slack in the cable to do the required wiring to the switch. (Note: Cape York dust from Toyota not fitting rubber grommet on 7 pin cable correctly)
