The othe lead is cagey as well. The reason given was that they found 3 of their competitiors making the exact same length shock as them and he claims that their shocks came on the market first.

The person I spoke to claims to be THE R&D guy for Tough Dog suspension and outrightly states that there is no Tough Dog kit for the 120 Grande. There is no official part number specific for the Grande and therefore no warranty coverage if Tough dog parts are fitted to a Grande. The reason is that the airbags exhibit 30% greater rebound (I think this meant that the airbags 'travel faster') and therefore the shocks are working extra hard and there is no guarantee that they will last 150,000km (at no. 9 setting on the adjustable shocks). He is happy not to do business with me.

Contrary to the other mob (the one who did 1coolbanana's) who states that the non-adjustable shocks are equivalent to the No. 5 setting on the adjustables. This mob, however, were very happy to do business with me but still refused to give out shock lengths.

That's strange because The Airbag Man actually recommends Tough Dog for use with their OA6011 Grande replacement air bag, and Superior Engineering have a Grande suspension kit that specifically utilises Tough Dog shocks: http://www.superiorengineering.com.a...oducts_id=6495

Just had mine off today and measured them, Peter, you may want to update your first post.

          Toughdog BM401116
          Closed length = 367mm
          Extended length = 580mm

On a side note, 4WD1, are a conceited lot who treat you like an idiot and try to screw you at any avilable opportunity.
They have tried it on me a couple times now and I will not have anything to do with them.

The guys to talk to are the actual Tough Dog guys.
Top blokes and very helpful and they stand by their product.

            BTW. and FYI

Sounds like youve been getting the run around mate.
BTW, they didnt do mine, Opposite Lock at Penrith helped me out with mine, they are good blokes, and the guys at 4waysuspension were very helpful with the whole thing too.
There was no issues regarding warranty with a Grande and I dont believe the 30% greater rebound at all. My 2 cents anyway.
Sounds like a BS artist having a bad day to me!

I'm surprised that an airbag actually rebounds faster than a traditional steel spring?

The factory 150 shock may have a larger diameter top pin, but the Toughdog shocks do not. After having contacted another PP member that has fitted Toughdog 80 series Landcruiser rear shocks to a 120 Prado, I can confirm that they will fit the 120 Prado.

I am new to this forum so please forgive me if im in the wrong area. I am looking at raising my Prado 120 series Diesel 2009 and looking for assistance with a comparison between the King Springs. The KTFR101H and HD I'm advised there is only a 5mm difference (H being lower) when the front of the vehicle is loaded with 100kg accessories such as bull bar winch etc. Has any any data on this or knows the formula on how to work it out? I'm looking at the Bilstein's B5 and have been advised they have a snap ring that allows adjustment and in doing so add's 10mm lift. Any advice?

G'day Hazza, welcome to Pradopoint where you will find information about just about anything and everything. It's just a matter of trolling through the posts and in doing so, you will recieve a plethora of information, However it will have an adverse effect on your bank balance! Just remember, Google is your friend. When you search with google, key in your key search words with a "+ Pradopoint.com" at the end and chances are you'll find what your looking for...With regards to your question, have a look in this section (120 Suspension) and sort from Last post from newest. You will find a couple of threads discussing in detail the varied results of a few PPers who have installed the KTFR101HD's (mine included).

Good work on the chart, thanks.

The rear coil data for standard 150 series is missing from the chart.

                              Does anyone know the stats?

I did originally have some data for the 150 Prado that suggested a free length of 373mm and a spring rate of only 143lb/in, however I would suggest that spring rate is way too low. It's probably somewhere between 200-220lb/in.
