  • Which one: ARB or TJM Bull bar for Kakadu Colour Coded

    I have been looking around, reading all different posts but I still can't make up my mind with regards to what bull bar I should get for my Prado 150 Kakadu in Pearl White.

    TJM T13:
    Great looking Bar but not sure on build quality and attention to detail;
    Not sure how the inserts under the lights look, but there is no need to cut existing bumper;
    Looks like it sits closer to the car, thus doesn't stick out as much as the ARB bar;
    Loose front headlight washers;
    6 week wait for stock to come in
    Price is right around $2000 fitted...

    ARB Deluxe:
    Nice solid car, tested and proven over a period of time and heaps of R&D spent;
    Accessories ie winches are more compatible;
    I hear there is Shadowing with HID lights, which is a pain;
    The bar does appear to sit out more from the front of the car, and requires bumper to be cut but you can retain the front light washers;
    There in stock at the moment;
    Priced right around $2100 fitted...

    What’s everyone’s thoughts, I know they are very simular… Does anyone have any pictures of the TJM T13 on a white Prado 150? Any thoughts, comments are appreciated.

    Cheers
    Tez

    G'day tez. Dunno if you've seen it but there was a pretty hefty discussion on this one here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...BAR-vs-TJM-BAR
    I've got the tjm bar and am very happy with it. Worth noting however that the shadowing affects both bars. I think it may only be the arb sahara bar that overcomes this. I think the end result of the other thread was more personal choice than anything else.

      Just fitted the ARB Deluxe bar and very happy with fit and the look. Colour coding was a good match for my white truck.

        Hi Tez

        I looked at both, the difference for me was not the product but the company that I was dealing with, the final decision was based on ease of doing business with, attitude, and back-up offered. This based on my experience only and the branches of both companies differ greatly according to the local management/franchisees.

        My other comment is be very specific about the finish as you have the pearl paint, they will make the statement that the paint is "colour coded" not "colour matched" two very different things. My bar is colour coded (plain white) and while I'm happy with the colour there is a slight variation.

        My decision is as below, there are issues' the indicator/park lights aren't sealed well for serious off roading and the mounting system for the splash plates could be better, but I am happy with the result, we have done a lot of touring and off roading in this Prado (80% of k's).

        Regards, Richo

          I have a VX and I still have the headlight washers, TJM used my car many times for R&D. You can either do what I have done and drill the bar and install 2 washers or the new infil panels have the hole area to cut out marked on the inside to fit the OE ones. Just cut th holes in the plastic before they send them to the paint shop.

          Very happy with my bar, excellent build quality and the R&D woud be up there (if not more on this model) with ARB based on how honest Don thrashed it all over the country with Roothie....

          Either way you cannot go wrong with either TJM or ARB, both make great bars for this car.

                i went ARB sahara bar for a number of reasons. the service on the gold coast was excelent, we perfered the look of the sahara. we thought it didn't hide the front end as much and the chrome top tube with a black bar matched the front end. i wanted top bars to protect the lights but we thought a full black bar would not look as good. BUT that is a personal thing and the bar works well we have already had one animal strike, no damage.

                  I have an ARB bar and cant recommend them enough after hitting a 6ft roo at 110 km/h and still driving it around. A great product

                    I have the ARB Deluxe bar on my GXL. If I had my way again I would go the TJM bar. I think it suits the 150 better. The TJM bar seems to be designed more for the 150. I have also noticed that the ARB bars for EVERY car is exactly the same. Especially around the fog light and indicator area. Plus there was a LONG wait for the ARB bar.

                      Funny that you said there is a long wait for the ARB bar, as I have been told the TJM's are on backorder and should be in by the end of August.... ARB have the bars in stock down South, thus only a couple of weeks wait. But oh well, I ordered the TJM Bar today, hopefully it comes in before our big trip in September... I am still keen to see if anyone has a picture of the TJM Bar on a white Prado

                        Do yourself a favour and have a look at the new Opposite Lock bars.
                        Im very impressed at the one for the 120 and if Id discovered it before getting the ARB then I surely would have got it instead.
