OK seems no-one.
Has anyone compared the VMS to the Premium Dig Options unit? Basically looking to install into my 2009 Grande which has a camera already fitted.Last edited by MidLifeCrisis; 03-08-2011, 12:15 PM.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Don't know about the new one but can tell you my friend is not happy with
his old model VMS. Unit works ok but he does have troubles with the blue tooth.
The big issue though is that VMS have moved to a new CPU in the new units and
are no longer going to provide updated map support for the old models.
He is not happy with there customer support at all as they have more or
less said stiff but we will give you a great deal if you upgrade to the new
model, great deal is $100 off!
He is consider a Digi Options unit.

Rob,
Ive got the less expensive TP09X1 and you're welcome to muck around with it. Havent toyed with the VMS option due to the price, no doubt its a great unit but the DigOptions does what I have asked of it to date.
Let me know if you want to see it before the next trip.

I will check it out on the trip. Beware, Lea will probably be jumping in everyone's car again to check out your "gear" too.
Easiest way to get her out of your car is to point backwards and say, "oh thank God we didn't kill it, its still moving" When she gets out to help just drive off and I will collect her.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

VMS for two Grande?
The VMS look very similar to a unit that is in my wife's Lexus 250. Just a bit old fashioned, although it works satisfactorily (not brilliant, but ok). The GPS on her Lexus does not show current speed, so we travel with a basic TomTom as well!
Am I correct in thinking that the VMS units are about $2k? I have just installed a 2Din unit in an older Prado, and whilst there are still a few gripes as it is a new model, it certainly looks a fair bit smarter than the unit in my wife's Lexus. Cost of the unit on eBay (Melb) was $595?, and was easy enough to fit myself.
Not sure if the 2Din is ok for the 150 series, but it might be worth taking a look at? Search for "Xtrons TD695GD" and I am sure you will find it.
Good luck,

2K is a fair guess. About 1.9k was an initial quote. Expect this has some room to move.
My 120 Grande has an inbuilt gps unit but I would describe it as reserve landfill. The VMS and Dig_Options units make it look like it was built in the 70's, except for a nifty tilt function to eliminate glare on the screen.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!
