Hi i too have bought my self a new 150 GXL Prado, i have seen the facia change on ebay to put in a gps unit for $150 the genuine toyota prado VX,Altitude and Kakadu Sat-Nav from Toyota costs $1500, i called up a local toyota dealer here in syd and thats the price they gave me on the Sat-Nav, im just wondering does anyone know if the setup will work in a GXL?

Toyota did say they dont know of any after market kits etc and dont recommend it lol... but say if i orded a VX facia for the sat nav and the genuine sat nav would it fit and work...

It would be very interesting what they have quoted you for, as far as I'm aware a genuine toyota system can't be retofitted to a GXL as it has a lot of the cabin "electrics" controlled through it and is more than just a GPS.

Unless they have something new available that wasnt around when I purchased...

$1500 is not a bad price, but I had to ask the question I guess if it would work, I have also looked on the TJM site and they do VMS sat-nav unit for the 150 GXL for $2195 and polaris do one for $1195 less $170 for reverse camera as the GXL already has one so it is actually
$1025 then $235 for fitting. I am quite hesitant to buy an ebay unit they are cheap but I don't trust them I have had one before in my 120 series and it sharts its self, having said that the Polaris and VMS units still look like they have the cheap interface that the ones on Ebay have.

Norooz, you are correct in that all the named brands come from china, i have a chinese brand of one from australia but nearly $1000 cheaper hasn't missed a beat and absoloutely love it over the OEM unit, the company over there was great to deal with and still are, i know with the aussie sold product your warranty is here not in china but meh, im ok with it....it runs all programs on and off road you are not tied into generic software, so when im bored i change nav programs...

Sweet thanks gympiebrowns, so this mob supplied you with the top screen and the bottom dvd unit im assuming.

Its the same unit at the dig options I guess.

Does your reverse camera work fine? was it just plug and play? what about the steering wheel controls.?

gday Nrooz, yes correct both top and bottom units supplied, i just checked digoptions its different now i think it was the same at some stage..steering controls all work as per normal, the only thing that wasnt plug and play was the reverse camera had to wire into original harness, and im also wiring in the original mic for the bluetooth handsfree phone, a few have this system on here and believe they are as happy as i am, sound quality equal to better than OEM stereo, this also has a connection for a fromt camera....

Hi how is everyone's aftermarket systems going? I have yet to buy mine, thinking I will get the dig options for $699.
So several month later has anyone's unit missed a heart beat?

After two years hassling the wife, I finally was given the go ahead to install a sat nav unit but the purse strings were kept tight.
I went with Dig Options Life Style unit as this allowed me to retain the top display (relocated down the lower part of the center console) andI liked the idea of having hard buttons and volume control on the sides. Installation was extremely simple and the factory adapter plugs made it a very quick change over. The bit that took the longest time was changing the A/C vents to the new fascia but all up it took less than 2 hours to install.

Functionality of the unit is pretty good and the retaining all the steering wheel controls is fantastic. The voice command button is now not used but I never used before so no issue for me on this one. IGO maps is ok, but I might look into putting TomTom on there just because I prefer the visual look of the maps. The DVD player works well and I have loaded music onto the second SD card as well as loading up the virtual CDs. Radio reception is no different to original.

For the price and when I compare it to what I had supplied by Toyota, I think that this is a very good unit and the fact that it looks like a factory install is a major bonus.

Hi all, I have been looking at a few in Dash GPS units and come across this Polaris Unit P19-TP150913.

A little pricey at $1099 but looks a good unit (HEMA maps available).

Has anyone got one of these or looked into them as well?
