  • Clunking from Rear Door on 150 GXL

    Just wondering if anyone has had loud thumping coming from the rear door of their 150. Mine is especially noticeable when the car is empty (nothing in the cargo area) and I go over a speed bump. Sounds like the door is not quite closed properly. I have tried removing the toolkit and it doesn't seem to change.

    Yeah I noticed this the other day too. I'd taken everything I normally carry out and all of a sudden I thought I'd hit something every time I went over a bump and low speed bump. Dont know what it is though so can't help sorry.

        Mine did that but was sorted at last service. Aparently the stricker plate was adjusted. It used to sort of clonk when I shut the back door as well but now it's more positive when it shuts and no rattling or banging over bumps.
        2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Build up thread below

          Oh what a feeling.......sorry couldn't help myself. Seriously why are we having all these little annoying problems....

            Because there cars.....it beats blown gearboxes or major oil leaks or ball joint failures etc etc I can live with a door rattle that's easily fixed.

              Kakadaz, point taken but the quality has slipped, my 90 series had no issues at all that I can recall. My 150 has spent to much time in the shop for my liking.

              Here's a summary of visits outside of service:

              Binding tailshaft - 5 visits (1 more needed to change the shaft)
              1500rpm rattle - 4 visits (fixed for the moment)
              Faulty in tank fuel pump - 2 visits (third shortly to have it replaced)
              Faulty mudflaps - 2 visits (third shortly to have them replaced)
              2400rpm flat spot - 2 visits (now fixed but new software needs more tweeking IMO)

                Ummm yep fair call lol. It is frustrating taking your car back to the dealer every second week. I had a guy work for me that was an ex service technician for BMW and believe me the Toyotas are 100 times better than the horror stories he told me like 11x X5's on hoists in one day ALL needing gearboxs some had less than 40k on the clock.

                  Agreed, sign of the times unfortunately...at least I know most of the people in the service department at my dealer and they are looking after me ATM. Best thing I find is to keep cool and go with the flow with them, helps to have an understanding service department though.

                    Which dealer did this for you? Any ideas on how to adjust strike plate?
