The only reason they sold so many (still not as much as the Hilux or Triton), is because they were cheaper than the D40, the D22 is an old design too, originally come out in 1998 before updating the shape to what it is now after the D40 failed sales targets.
Nope, same block difference everything else. Not the same and don't run lean on number 4, CRD don't have the issue anymore than the Prado. We have one D22 left at work, 340k on the clock and still goes like new, tough truck. The Hiluxes there is one that just when passed it with 350k and so far it's had new suspension, new brake master cylinder, new water pump, new alternator. The D22 appears to be more durable, that is if the turbo doesn't let go at 175k like the other four did, like clock work!

I'm not sure if this has been discussed on the forum however I couldn't find it after spending days searching for an answer.

I just sold my Prado Petrol 150 GXL and am thinking of getting the diesel, The dealer told me that there isn't a big different in the cruising range from petrol and diesel. But I know for a fact that you can get more out of a diesel tank then petrol, but not sure how much more.

In my petrol GXL, I was getting an average of 880kms from a completely full tank, and I mean completely full.

Can anyone tell me how many kms you would get out of a full diesel tank? city and freeway driving?

      Thanks.
Well I get 1300km till the DTE reads 0 and can only get 138L in, that last 12L could take you 150km if required.

I have gotten 1700km from the same method using 140L pure highway with no load other than passengers and some luggage. I have done this three times, and will check again when I go to Sydney at xmas.
