But I'm happy to have a challenge. On flat sand it's also good to be able to select your gear and hold it, where autos will kick down.
You might have to make a video of roll starting with no battery & post it :-)

Quite frankly the auto pisses me off... Especially when in "eco" mode. I never drive in eco mode anymore
So much of the power in the auto is lost in the torque converter. I am seriously considering getting a torque converter lock switch installed.
The auto is most definatly not a drivers car.

A few others on this forum who own autos also drive in 'S' mode all the time.

Not sure how a Prado is a driver's car anyway. The torque convertor does good things especially in sand. But that is just me. Wouldn't have another family 4wd manual unless the auto option was not up to the job.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Automatic Vs Manual - Is the Auto a "Drivers" car?
I was left a little underwhelmed after test driving a new 2.8 D4D auto, and decided to stay with our 95 series TD manual. A few days later I tracked down a manual 2.8 (they're a bit like hens teeth in Melbourne!), drove it on Friday and promptly coughed up a deposit. Should be picking it up next week.
Much preferred the manual, both wife and I currently have manuals and can't see it changing anytime soon. Our other car is a Golf manual and whilst the Prado is no comparison, I still found the manual transmission more engaging and "driveable" than the auto D4D.
Time will tell i guess!

(If anyone wants a 95 TD manual let me know!)
This sounds scarily similar to my wife & I in 2010 and we went the manual 150 over the auto. There have been times I would prefer to be driving an auto and many more times I prefer the manual but I still have no regrets in buying the manual. I really did want to get the auto then but just couldn't as I still enjoyed driving the manual much more than the auto. After 6 years with the 150 manual, no regrets.
By the way prior to getting the 150, I had a 2001 TD manual and my wife had (and still has) TD Golf manual.Dave - 2010 Silver GXL Prado 150 TD Manual.
