  • Scangauge II 150 series codes - trans temp and others

    Hey guys,

I recently purchased a scangauge to monitor fuel use as my gauge no longer works, and thought it would also be useful for trans temp etc.

I thought it would be good to have a thread which specifically lists codes which people have found to work. Which also lists Month/Year, engine type, and trim level of vehicle.

I tried the following codes from the www.scanguage.com.au website:

    TFT-Alpha (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E121D9
    RXF: 032100000000
    RXD: 2808
    MTH: 00010001FFD8
    NAM: TFT

    TFT-1 (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E021D9
    RXF: 032180000000
    RXD: 2810
    MTH: 0003004DFE70
    NAM: TF1

    TFT-2 (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E021D9
    RXF: 032180000000
    RXD: 1810
    MTH: 0003004DFE70
    NAM: TF2

    TFT-3 (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E021D9
    RXF: 032180000000
    RXD: 3810
    MTH: 0003004DFE70
    NAM: TF3

    TFT-4 (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 2808
    MTH: 00010001FFD8
    NAM: TF4

    TFT-5 (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 3808
    MTH: 00010001FFD8
    NAM: TF5

    On my:

    07/2011
    GXL
    TD auto

I found that only one worked:

    TFT-Alpha (Degrees C)
    TXD: 07E121D9
    RXF: 032100000000
    RXD: 2808
    MTH: 00010001FFD8
    NAM: TFT

And it is very erratic, possibly reading off the convertor.

I'd be interested to know what codes other people have found that work, and if there are any other readings that people have obtained.

    Dave,

shouldn't your gauge be fixed under warranty, given your car is only a few months old?

This one works fine for me on my 02/11 D4D GXL. BUT.... now I am getting frightened to look at it. Way too hot for comfort. It seems to be very accurate when related to the water temp and operating conditions. The cooler is not up to Australian conditions at all and we should not have to fit an additional cooler for normal operation. Maybe my car is faulty!!!!

What is the turns temp that you are concerned about?

Temp up to 110 deg yesterday in normal city driving. From what I read about AT Fluid that is too hot and will reduce the life of the oil and the transmission. Anything over 100 is BAD!!!!!

I don't think the temperature we are reading is a great indication of actual trans temperature, Tezza.

It appears to be way too erratic. If it is as I suspect; a temp sensor at the torque converter, which is a possibility, then it is a bit useless.

It's a shame none of the other codes work.

The trans temp light is meant to come on at 110 I thought, mine has been up there recently and it hasn't come on... So I'd think there is other sensors. Unless it has to be above 110 for a set period of time?

He long does yours stay at 110 for?

It only stayed at 110 for a few seconds Wooley. As soon as I noticed it I went into S mode and it came down. Mine scanguage is not erratic at all and it does seem to reflect actual driving conditions, as in...... when the auto is working hard the temp goes up. I have read a fair bit of info on operating temperatures for autos and anything over 100 is bad.

I wonder what Toyota did to rectify this trans temp issue on the later 150's? The reason I wonder is because I live in hot north Queensland and tow a bloody huge ski boat around through bloody big hills at quite often full throttle and I've never had the trans temp warning light come on.

I think you'll find there is no difference bar the ECU update.

Thats another reason I think the temp reading Tezza and I are getting is false.

If the light's not coming on... there is no issue really.

                    Hi Wooley,

I am sure I am confused, but from what I understand from your post, there is only one function that works on your scanguage ...the last one, and its very erratic. Is there any point then for me to get a scanguage for my 150 GXL TD auto?

                          Thanks wooley,

I'm thinking of getting one myself...what specific parameters are you using the scanguage to measure/indicate?

I have water temp, voltage, trans temp and revs showing. I occasionally check intake temp though.

I wouldn't mind having oil temp and pressure though... Maybe one day.

Agreed...oil temp and pressure would then make it almost ideal....especially given the recent developments with injector seals and oil pickup contamination etc
