Hey guys
After being a PP member since 2006 owning and loving a 120 Grande, and now a 7 month old Kakadu, I've finally thought I should do a proper intro and put up some details of my Prado. I've been a long time lurker for too long.
I've got a real passion for Toyota's vehicles and the 2 Prados I've owned are the best vehicles I've owned. I've done a few trips outback and look forward to many more.
So on with the ride.
Bought in late May 2011 is our current V6 Crystal Pearl 150 Kakadu. The only additions at time of purchase was Toyota floor mats, towbar and tint, but I did have a few goodies I removed from the previous Prado which has taken me up until Christmas to find the time to transfer across. Coupled with a couple of new items I'm now seriously starting to get the bug to do some mods. Not sure how far we'll go but reading these forums, and hearing all the good stuff everyone else is doing is pretty addictive.
As it stands now here is what we have done so far :
- Toyota Towbar
- Toyota Carpet Floor Mats (for around town)
- 3M Black Window Tint
- Toyota Roof Racks
- Toyota Rubber Floor Mats (for when we hit the dirt)
- Toyota Rubber Rear Cargo Mat
- Toyota Headlight Covers (thanks Daniel -- rogerthatv2)
- Pelican Parts Tie Down Points
- Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller (for towing the soft floor camper - Lifestyle 360)
- GME TX3440 Remote Mic UHF (unit mounted under console in front of gear shifter)
- ABR Sidewinder Battery Tray
- Piranha DBE180S+ Battery Isolator
- Optima Yellow D34 Auxiliary Battery
- 12 volt outlet in rear (under 240 volt outlet)
- Anderson plug for camper trailer on tow bar
- ABR Sidewinder Voltage Diode
- TJM Airtec Snorkel
- ABR Deluxe Winchbar - Colour Coded to Crystal Pearl with fog lights
- Front camera relocated to ABR bar next to number plate
- Outback Ideas Recovery Points
- ARB 4-piece Underbody Protection
- Britax Xray 200 HID Spotlights
Bought but yet to fit
- CouplerTec Heavy Duty Rust Protection system
- Transfer Guard (Brains) - Pick up this week
Options Planned for soon
- Suspension options - raise rear airbags through sensor trick, possible front springs
- Diff Breathers
Future Options
- Cooper AT3 (happy so far with Grandtrek AT22s)
I like my mods to look as stealth as possible so the Brake Controller is mounted by velcro near the drivers door (away from knee airbag) and only ever gets used when I tow the trailer. The controller pops away in the glovebox and the wiring harness tucks up safely under the dash.
Same for the UHF. When not in use the aerial comes off and the handset pops into the glovebox.
Some piccies :
Here it is new and clean
Getting dirty on a 4WD course late last year
Trip out to Sundown NP
Prodigy Brake Controller
PradoPoint is a great forum and offers some great ideas...too many wife says, but I'm sure that's nothing new here.
Hope you enjoy my rig.
Cheers
Michael
