• G'Day All
I finally bit the bullet and got one. I went with the 6.2" version rather than the 7". I had it fitted be a local Auto Electrician yesterday and so far it all seems to be working well. My only gripes are:
1. when you turn the key the radio volume is louder than when I turned it off.
2. The GPS won't recognise my house number, but this is the same with my old Navman. The problem is we live at Lot 5 not No. 5 and that confuses the GPS.
3. The GPS doesn't "remember" what level of zoom it was set to. I tend to zoom out a bit so I can see what's ahead, but when I go to the radio screen or turn the key off the GPS defaults back to the factory setting of zoomed in.

Finally how do I install OziExplorer? I have it running on my PC and did buy the CE version a couple of years ago when I was toying with the idea doing a ual boot on my old Navman.

• Hi Bigpat

This is only comes from my trial and error and playing with the controls. hopefully it works for you too.

To set the start up volume of the radio, press your Home button, then scroll down and press Set Up, then the Audio tab on the left hand side. Select the source as "Radio" then set the desired level below that. I have mine set to 1.

From this source setting I think you can also set the start up volume for the other inputs/devices.

As for the GPS issues I can't really help with that as I haven't played with that too much.

Hope that has helped a bit.

• Hi Muz

I'll have a look at that when I get the kids from school.

Edit / update

did the changes to the audio settings and still get the same volume set at 15 when I turn the key.

Hi Bigpat, I read somewhere way back in this thread that a couple of people had this exact same problem,( volume defaulting to 15). From memory they contacted the supplier who emailed them back an updated link which they somehow put into the unit, must be via the SD card??. I'm not to technological myself obviously but if you have a look at afew of the first threads you should be able to find help.
Hope this helps. Lee.

Hi Leeboy
I emailed the seller and they have sent me a firmware update which I'll apply shortly and report back soon.

• I have the same question as BigPat: how do you get OziExplorer to work on this unit? I have the latest software maps from a HN6 and would like to know if they will work on the new 7" model?
07 Silver Grande AUTO, front runner rack, maxtrax, ARB on board compressor, safari snorkel, bushranger roof top pack... and a bit of bling for the back (08 CUB Regal Supermatic Offroad).

• Conceptually I have very little idea how this navigation software is installed and run, perhaps someone here who has played with this can explain in speak us 'uneducated' PDA types can understand. I've use Ozexplorer on my PC for 5 years now, mainly to save my etrex generated fishing points too. I've not actually ever used it on a unit PDA with inbuilt 'maps'. I do have the full Australian collection of raster maps I possibly could use in my new head unit if I can understand how it all works? I spent an hour poking into my head units setting today, but I cannot find the area to change map paths (as directed in the above thread). There seems to be a little bit of 'assumed knowledge' being used that I just don't seem to have

1. Can someone explain to me if both Ozexplorer and the delivered navigation software can exist in these units side by side, or if I will only be able to run one or the other?

2. How is ozexplorer installed, is this a matter of installing onto the Map SD card, can we simply swap Nav SD cards to choose the original standard software for city navigation or ozexplorer when we go bush?

Sorry if this is obvious to some but I am interested to try this if it would give me some off-road maps for weekends and I can do it without suffing up my head unit navigation around the city.

• Peril, I think it really depends on the head unit you have. Most units will only provide you with one option to change the GPS software that is being launched when you press the GPS or Navigation button on your system. If you can find the location where to change the path, you then can choose the software that is launched. Depending on the size of the SD card and the number of maps you wish to store on it - you could either run both sets on the one card, or swap cards - but if your system only has the option to set one navigation software path location - then you will need to change the path either way. I have a different unit than the Autotunez one so I wont be able to tell you exactly where the path setting is located on your unit.

1. From what I have seen typically one or the other.

2. Just copy the extra software and maps onto the SD card. Then set the navigation launcher path found usually in your settings page.

• OK, that sounds worth a try 'IF' I can located that path change.

It seems my autotunez system is running an overlay that does hides the path setting option, as the manuals images are very different and do show it? I did see the path on first boot but since then its been bypassed in the nav boot-up and is not shown in the settings available I can find.

I assume they like to hide this kind of stuff to stop people stuffing things up?

Perhaps someone else can show me where I get to it?

• G'day all, I got my new system and wonder if any one has a good idea where to locate the supplied tv antennas? In the back somewhere? Any hints would really be appreciated.
