Been a while since I had been on here and just hadn't gone back through the thread far enough, so thankyou for bringing it to my attention.
I tend to use the web site to try and keep up to date but the web site it self has not been kept up to date.

VK - the sponsors are being added to the website as we speak. We have been slow to update it due to wanting full confirmation from the various sponsors before providing a full break down of the goodies they are offering.

The website will also soon be update with accommodation information, and other important things that you will all need to think about, like topping up on supplies etc at the dedicated locations. I'll announce this when it's been done.

Just had a read of the quarantine rules on the link but have a couple of queries of what is actually posted on the web site.

            3) Purchase these items in Orroroo (the closest town to the Bendleby Ranges, GTG meeting point) if necessary
            4) CONSUME these items before leaving Bendleby Ranges
            5) Purchase these items again in Loxton, S.A. during the tag-along-component if desired.

Why do we need to consume all our fruit and vegetables before leaving Bendleby Ranges when it is still part of South Australia? Am a bit confused (doesn't take to much- to many paint fumes these last couple of days) so some clarification would be appreciated.

The reason is we travel though an area withing SA that is subject to its own restrictions. That area is identified as the Riverland. When you enter SA, you MUST declare and dispose of all fruit and veg as well as when you enter the special area known as the Riverland. Yep, drives us crazy too, until recently there wasn't enough water in the Riverland to grow a decent weed.....

It gets worse...if we purchase fruit in the Riverland (coz we live here) and then travel to Mildura (across the border in Victoria) we have to consume the fruit before we get back to SA unless we have a receipt as proof of purchase. Madness I tell you!!

Loxton is in the Riverland which is a fruit growing area, we have a large fruit fly exclusion zone around the area so we can export fruit as being fruit fly free, so the moving of fruit and vegetables into the riverland is banned, even from within the state. This is in addition to the rules regarding bringing fruit into the state.

I know Tassie has a number of quarantine rules about what can and can't come in, same as most states, just one of those things that we have to do to keep the fruit growers in business! Given that many people will have been on the road for some time before arriving at the GTG we plan to allow enough time for people to do a good shop for food and fuel whilst in Loxton and there are no restrictions about taking fruit or veg out of the riverland.

                  Cheers Andrew

Travel Tip: don't let your missus admit to the quarantine officer that you have a brand new unopened bottle of WA made honey in your trailer as you are about to re-enter WA. Mine did just that and the officer told us to get it out. Well, it was right at the bottom of everything, deep inside the trailer so everything had to come out. And the reason for it being seized: a bee might have landed on the bottle. But it never saw the light of day and was still sealed and unopened. Didn't matter, we were going to forfeit it. In future, the missus gets gagged as we approach quarantine stations.

There's always been plenty of good weed grown in the river land, Rob...

Oh wait... Sorry, different kind. Never mind.

Tassie does have its own restrictions as to what can come into the state but had never heard of different restrictions within the same state.

OK all makes sense now so will abide by the rules. I am sure one of the committee will make sure everyone is aware when we go to leave the Bendelby Ranges.
