busha, when you receive Yellow Box V5 where are you going to splice and cut the harness?

Apologies. Check manual section under 2005.8 model, connector list. (I think this is connector only - Please check). I have to learn to post images.

Nice work busha, I found it on my CD now also. If these connectors are available and aren't too expensive then a plug and play harness should be able to be made.

I have just installed Yellow Box V5 with splice wiring (solder connection) on my Grande 120, tested and calibrated speedometer for bigger tyres. My full installation information is in this thread:
          http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...=certification
The Yellow Box V5 works fine and I am very happy and also particularly thankful to Jenny at Yellow Box who has been excellent in finding the correct solution. For about $79.95USD, or about $76.40AUD, it is a very good value. Thier website and contact details:

I have ordered a set of IL1 connectors from Toyota for $23.30 with the view to making an IL1 harness.

            Part Numbers 90980-11973 and 82824-30240

Only 10 out of the 18 wires to these connectors are utilised on my particular model:
Pin 2 - White with black stripe (Ground)
Pin 4 - Green with red stripe (4WD)
Pin 5 - Pink with blue stripe (Speed Sensor)
Pin 6 - Pink with blue stripe (ABS/VSC/TRC)
Pin 8 - Black with red stripe (Ignition Switch Power)
            Pin 9 - Black (Immobiliser)
Pin14- Blue with white stripe (Center Diff Lock)
Pin15- Blue with yellow stripe (Center Diff Lock)
            Pin17- Green (Center Diff Lock)
            Pin18- Blue (Center Diff Lock)

As confirmed by busha and the OP in this thread, the 3 wires in the IL1 connector of interest are:
Pin 2 - White with black stripe for the earth connection
Pin 5 - Pink with blue stripe for the speed signal
Pin 8 - Black with red stripe for power source

Hopefully I'll be able to make up a harness for my vehicle and avoid having to cut and splice wires.

Well, I got the IL1 connectors from Toyota and what a woftam that exercise was. The connectors not only don't have wires, they don't even have pins installed:

These are useless and I'll be sending them back to Toyota. It seems the only solution is to cut and splice the existing wiring to install a speedo corrector, just like busha has done.

Well, Stewart Toyota Rockdale Parts have refused to refund or even to credit me the paltry $23.30 that I paid for the IL1 connectors. Apparently Toyota don't refund "special orders". Buyer beware

                          Wiring issue with instalation

                          Hello Everyone,

I was hoping someone on here may be able to assist me with their greater knowledge. I have bought the yellow box and went to install is as per instructions on here. Unfortunatly my wires are different coloursfor some reason??? My prado is 2005 KZJ120 Grande.

Any thoughts/help would be greatly appriciated. I will post some photos of wiring soon.

                          Cheers

You need to reference the wiring diagram for the 1KZ motor. What colour are the wires that go to pins 2, 5 & 8?

Looks like pin 2 is white with black stripe - this one is your earth wire. I can't make out the colour of the wires to pins 5 & 8 from those photos.

On my wiring diagram, pin 5 is grey for the 1KZ - this is the speed sensor. Pin 8 should be black with red stripe - this is the power source.
