  • Setup for this year's calendar competition

I've had a really good look through the gallery type options with voting systems and they all look clumsy and ordinary. Few integrate with vBulletin so I've decided to develop a custom system just for us.

How does this sound for a process?

    1. A pre-defined set of categories/genres - (one for each month with the exception of December for the mosaic.)
    2. One category is opened for entries at a time and will be open for two weeks.
    3. First round voting is open for one week after the category closes.
    4. Members select and rate their top three photos in order of preference.
    5. The three photos with the most votes proceed to the final round.
    6. When all categories have been through the first round, the final round is opened for voting with members being able to select one photo per category.
    7. Each winning photo of the category is included in the calendar.

Sounds good. Can I suggest you do this in the latter part of the year so we have time for an abundance of Fresh photos including the GTG.

Sounds like a good plan mate.

For 7, is that a photo of the winner?

            Sounds good!
Will there be a limited number of entries per category?

I think there needs to be a limit. What's a fair number? 3?

3? You mean per member? 3 in total isn't much.

3 per member is heaps, but yeah, I meant in total - the total number of forum entries per category.

Three per member, per category, is a lot.

                    Perhaps too much? Try two??

I didnt get involved last year, looking forward to it this year. About to buy a Digital SLR. Are there rules or instructions somewhere that I can read?

Aaron, I am a mod of a photography forum, and was formerly an admin for it. They run Gallery software (cannot remember the name) with voting etc... I can put you in touch with the current admin Karl, and they run vBulletin too.

In addition to MDSimpson's post, I'm sure something is mentioned somewhere about not lettig MLC win.

                          Cheers

What's happening with the 2013 calendar or have I missed something.

Have the topics been finalised and when is it to start?

Now I am virtually a married man, I will not be placing an entry with scantly clad girls seductively draped over a wet Prado. I made this decision all by myself! I even destroyed the photos as an act of respect for my lovely lady. Yes, that's right, destroyed every trace of the password to the 2 gig file of these silly photos. As far as I am concern they do not exist.

                              Regards
