  • DTUK Diesel Chip

    I have just purchased one of these for my 1kz 120 Prado.

    Probably should have asked on here first, but has anyone tried these before?

    The DP Chip was the one I initially looked at, but the Wife wouldn't come at the extra $600.

    Any comments would be appreciated, and I'll give an update after Ive fitted it (plug and play, so should be painless enough)??

    I looked around shopping for a chip also and came across these look really good you might be prado points test pilot for this one , I just purchased a second hand rapid for my 1kz and i am also waiting for it to arrived.

        Well it arrived today and have now fitted it. There are 6x different settings, so I rang Scott from DTUK whom suggested I put the Jumper on +2 (+20%). The settings range from -30% to +30%.

        I went for a run down the Freeway approximately 40km and immediately noticed a massive difference. Cruising speed at 110kmhr seemed effortless (auto gear changes were much quicker where as before it would really hang on to the gears).

        Then I went for a run up some hills in the Ocean Shores area and hardly had to touch the throttle to keep the speed up. It has alot more go off the mark, and even the Wife (it's Her car) could not believe the difference when she had a go behind the wheel.

        I have not noticed excessive smoke out the back end, and just can't get over how responsive it is now.

        The whole installation only took 10 minutes and was about the most painless thing I've ever had to do to a car.

        I'll keep you all updated on the Diesel consumption side of things (the info supplied claims there will be savings here also) which I tend to believe as you just don't need to put your foot down as much anymore.

        At this stage (only early days I know) a big thumbs up to Scott from DTUK OZ! (and before anyone asks I have no affiliation with the Company or anyone in it). Everyone has to be happy if you save $600 off the other Chips out there and get these results (again early days)!!

                Well the chip has been installed for a week now and couldn't be happier.

                The fuel economy is definitely better (down from around 11.5lt per 100km to 10.9lt per 100km), and it has made the car so much better to drive..

                This is the Wife's daily drive, and she does around 300- 400km a week in it and absolutely loves the difference this chip has made.

                The fact you don't have to put your foot down as much has definitely contributed to the better fuel economy, and from research I have done 10.9lt per 100k's is pretty good for a 2005 120 Series with a 1kz motor!

                We're off to Cairns for a trip this coming weekend from Murwillumbah with the Camper Trailer in tow, so I'll give an update when we get back!!

                  Trip done and travelled 4000km.

                  Used 550 litres of diesel towing my Camper with a 3.75 Tinnie on top, 15hp 4 Stroke Outboard on the draw bar (and a tool box) with an all up weight of around 1000kg (with full water tanks etc). This was also with 2 adults, 2 kids (and a dog) in the car fully loaded as well with PVC Pipe fishing rod holder on roof racks etc as well). Sat on 100- 110km no worries most of the time, and definitely more power up hills (but still no race car)!

                  A big thumbs up for the DTUK module from me

                  I worked that out at around 13.8 litres per 100km which I am pretty bloody happy with for a 1kz diesel!

                    Just a follow up on this. The chip is buggered. No support fro DTUK in England (they don't want to know about it), and can't find any info or contact from Diesel Chips Australia where I bought it from. I guess I'll be on the look out for a reasonably priced DO now or similar!

                      That's a bit of bad luck. I see you had it for 5 years. Was it worth the money? Not sure how much it cost. Sometimes you just can't pick the right company. Better luck next time and thanks for the post

                        Paid $800 for it new and was good when it worked. I've left several messages at the Company I bought it through in Sydney asking if it's serviceable, but they won't reply. In short, no I wouldn't recommend DTUK chips at all!
