Had a guy come in the other day for some work and said the blanking plate was very expensive and cost him over 400 bucks so make sure nobody touches it!!!- this is true

      Anyone heard about this.
I was just thinking of this today. An electric alternative in conjunction with a full block off plate would be ideal!

Used to get around all sorts of these issues with 90's Toyota stuff. Made a fuel cut defender for a couple of bucks once.

Resistor But where to put it.

Resistors are available 3.6k Ohm or 4.7k Ohm @ $5 for a pack of 10 . You only need one.
The problem is which wire to cut on the Map/Maf. The colour code is different than the Mitsy.
The only common colour between the Map/Maf and EGR is Brown.
Surely some Techno Nerd out there can work this one out.
EGR closed permanent for 50cents. Looks like the best alternative.

            Good evening James,
The last sentence is why we are not able to do as much R&D as we would like to!

The Toyota D4D has been causing me some grief as we are not coming up with a consistent formula and want to keep it economical for the end consumer as some of our others have been.
We are still doing our R&D on these models and found Toyota have changed the injector drivers plus some other components three times since September 2006.

I can add you to an alert list should we decide to release a commercial product for D4D in the near future.

Sure, we'll test out my findings on your car ;-)

One way would be to drive at full throttle everywhere you travel. EGR stays closed at full noise plus you will have the added bonus of losing your right to drive! Engine won't suck up any exhaust gas sitting dormant in the garage!

              Cheers Brad

He's a busy guy. With the new prado engine out it might have changed again.

                  In the mean time

That massively reduces the egr flow.

Didn't tell you about it when I did your injectors & egr, was still in r&d, well it's ongoing process becoming the best on 1kd.

Are you coming for a drive Sunday?

                      Cheers,

                      I will share that!

Look at this one from today, 2010 with 130k on her, this one is a good example of an egr that liked to be open.
I did a diagnostic before I started work on it, that's how I knew it was going to be a bad one.

Mine wasn't half as bad as that one when I cleaned it 4 weeks ago at 138K. But I have run the catch can for the last 3 years.

Yeah I have had all sorts, more Klm's & not much mess at all. Some egr's close up easier than others.
That was a bad bad 150, worst one so far on a 150.

This plate has the 7mm hole.

Do you notice any difference between the top mount & front mount setup as far as buildup?

                                You mean intercooler?

Generally intercoolers are pretty clean, bugger all oil, just a bit where it gets caught at the joints etc,
perhaps the 150's with front are a bit dryer, maybe the oil sits in the bottom of it, never removed one yet.
but it could be because generally they are lower Klm's.
                                Higher Klm's & it's often more wet.
If the egr mess is very wet, a catch can may help reduce the oil/glue.
Egr soot is the real enemy.

I have Also found a pattern with valve clearances, no.4 inlets are the worst, closest to the abrasive soot.
