I will eventually modify my rear bar to be the same as Type C.

I guess it depends what you'll use it for... but whatever you do don't get Type A as it doesn't have the second stub in case you want a second arm in the future.

A heavy rear bumper I think would not be good because the gas tank hangs low. To fix that, heavy duty or long rear springs are required.

        Glen can tell you something!

          Prado91,
Go for the 2 stub that can hang.If you are not using one,you can remove it and used it back if you want.
How your are getting those?Order from China?I'm interest to get 1 as well.

Personally I'm not keen on carrying 60+kg of extra weight. I'll probably end up with a custom one eventually - just a simple tubular bar hiding underneath the edge of the original bumper.

One of the reason I think the rear steel bumper is good cause, you can hang the space tire on it.The load will be mount at chasis.
At the moment your spare tire is hanging on your rear door.Personaly I think it is not a good idea for the door for long run, speacialy when you are going offroad frequent. It may damage the hinge soon.
But if you using the steel bumber, the tire will be mount at your chasis rather then your rear door of body.Just my sense...

Correct, but I dont think that alone cannot justify the cost. A steel bar is worth $1,500 - $3,000. How much are hinges? Will I even have the car that long? Will they really fail?

John ,I agree with your sentiments. I though i would upgrade to a 120s 1kz 2 or so years ago,so sold my old 90s to a young couple known to me,a V6 deck out with all the usually gear. Now i know the 90 s is still going strong must be 300km plus as it was at 270km when sold. In hindsight maybe i was better hanging onto the old one and throwing the $ at it when needed. Although i like the 120s and got it for great price at the time i do miss the old auto,.I think that sometimes the older models are better and cheaper than than the flasher new models.
New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear

One of the reasons I bought the steel rear was plastic doesn't handle bouncing off rock ledges. My previous plastic rear was ripped off on one side buy heavy mud also, the steel gives me piece of mind when playing as well as city driving with crazy female drivers and young rev heads. I speak from experience as I was one, No , I mean the crazy rev head option.

Only thing is, there arent too many options with rear bars for the 90. ARB = no!, TJM = no!, Kaymar = no! and no plans ever to make one, Wasp = Yes.
Wasp is the only one I can find that will suit all models of the 90 series, as it only replace the very back part of the bumper, so if you have models with flared wheel arches, it will still fit correctly without modification. If you look at the original post, all those bars have the side flanges that go towards the wheel arch, if you have flared wheel arches, you have to cut the rear part of the flare off to make the bar fit.
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

I like it a lot but with one tire carrier, 2 is not justified I think!!

                        Some examples:

When I researched this 1 year ago, Wasp was over $3,000. I much preferred the MCC4x4 one which was under $2,000.

                          http://www.mcc4x4.com/index.php?opti...d=25&Itemid=27

Over the phone they confirmed it will take two 33" tyres, and the tow hitch is inbuilt into the bar (so it's very high clearance), and it's officially load rated.

Weight: bar- 37-40kgs. Arms 11-13kgs each. Brackets 10kgs (all up) so that's about 60kg total.

Unfortunately rear bars will look odd on my rig due to the body lift, unless I modify it.

                            Hi
There is quite a lot off mcc bar in Malaysia, some just cross the border and fix it in Thailand.
But it quite difficult to get for prado.
Prado was not sell in Thailand by Toyota.

Anybody able to help me, where I can get it in Malaysia?

                            Glen,
If you done the body lift, you definitely have to modify the bill bar, but it quite easy.
I seem some hilux already have kits to modify.

What you have to modify? The rear bumper is attached to the body and goes up when bodylift is installed.
