Hi Vic any of these type of nudge bars will take as you described above as a love tap. If you are after some thing that will take a good hit then a bullbar is the only way to go. But like you have said you have only encountered one animal strike so probably a lot depends on where you live and type of driving as to wether you need a full bullbar or not. I've had the nudge bar on a couple of 4wd's before I changed them to a full size bullbar thanks to ebay and some one else outlaying bug dollars originally to buy them. I have had my nudge bar pushed back onto one of my 4wd's and it caused more damage then if I didn't have one as it was a high loop with pissy support brackets running through under the number plate it bent back and damaged the bonnet where as without it I'm sure it would have only possibly been a scuff on my bumper bar. I like a lot of the low ones above and especially the ones with decent support brackets in under the number plates including bolting to the chassis. There certainly needed if you want to run lights, uhf antenna etc, and certainly a lot less weight, but at the end of the day the name describes what they are which is a nudge bar. I would certainly look at the lower style for the next 4wd. I really don't need a bullbar for the amount of outback off roading I would do..... Just my opinion... Cheers Steve

I had it powder coated "Matte Black with Texture"
It has the same feel as the snorkel and the Black Rhino Platform Rack.

VZ, I am also considering fitting an ECB low loop bar with recovery points and note your comment above. Did you somehow customise the mounting of the nudgebar to get it to sit higher up and closer to the bumber than ECB intended? Also, are your recovery points customised to be compatible with mounting with the bar and if so how?

                Hi David,

Here is a picture of the points back from the painters which may give you an idea of the ECB bar mounting.

We made sure it would tuck the bar up nice and tight close to the bumper.

I didnt, the hammertone colour is actually a very close match to the graphite. I think it looks great!

They are a good match Grant, I couldn't pick the difference from the photo.

                            Grant,

How's the camera and radar cruise go? Any degradation to performance? Are you planning on fitting spotties?

                            Cheers,

                            David.

                              Hey David,

The camera has a little bit of obstruction, but still is useful (my wife uses it when driving into our garage mostly!). Have not yet tried the radar crusie control, although ECB have designed the bar to work with the smarts in the front end of the 150.

In saying all of that, I have taken it back to ECB today to get an adjustment made as the sensors are playing up a bit. I think it needs to be a few mm higher. The bar is bolted to the shassie with 4 bolts, and can easily be adjusted to sit slightly higher or lower.

I am stoked in how it matched the graphite though. I really don't like chrome bars, especially nudge bars, I just find them a bit wanky and fake. least the hammer tone is a little less in your face.

Thanks Grant. I'm interested in any clarifying info you may have regarding ECB's efforts to make the bar compatible with the smarts at the front of the 150. It seems to me that they have only done this for the parking sensors. I tried quite persistently to get information out of ECB directly, and via my local dealer regarding compatibility with the camera and radar cruise control, but it was to no avail. It's all a bit strange considering the photos on their website show the bar fitted to a Kakadu model. They were not prepared to do a trial fit either. I was originally interested in the high loop bar, but the spotlight tabs are considerably closer together than on the low loop bar - hence my question about the spotlights. It would seem that with lights fitted operation of both the camera and the radar cruise would be significantly degraded. With the greater spotlight tab separation of the low loop bar (similar to those running lights on Kakadu's will bullbars), I became satisfied that the lights would not affect the radar cruise. However, the camera was still going to be a problem. Perhaps the top of the low loop bar sits a little higher than the lower loop of the high loop bar. Then there were additional problems of fitting off-the-shelf front recovery points with the nudgebar, so I gave up and fitted HIDs to the factory high beams instead of worrying about spotties. I'd still like spotties if possible without degrading the other functions, so am most interested to know how you get on if you fit spotties to your bar.

                                Cheers,

                                David.
