Just had an interesting and expensive problem on my 2007 VX. Lots of warning lights, high pitched alarm (that won't quit), and hard brake pedal (no power assist). Local Toyota dealer was kind enough to look at straight away but it was all bad news. Problem is ABS accumulator assembly (ABS module) - a $2700 item plus incidentals and labour.
I can't afford to have the car off the road for long but I'd like to look at alternatives before committing to genuine fix. Has anyone experienced this problem and did you go a second hand or non-genuine (if available) fix? What did it cost? Was it more trouble than the saving on genuine?
