Four people since April seams fairly limited, I was under the impression this was far more widespread. As outback has said, it's sucks to be the owner of one and as yet, there's hardly a trend to help prevent this from happening. Yet another monthly check I suppose.

I am starting to think the V6 petrol is a good alternative to all our worrying problems. We will get a better nights sleep...
No cracked guards, no injector problems, no leaking seats, or no engine rattles... I wonder if I can swap?RYAN

I think if you're not going to keep your car long term, then the petrol would probably be a good choice (2nd hand though as u hopefully won't lose as much $$). If u like doing long distance touring trips where fuel is a issue, then maybe the diesel. For me, the Diesel was the only one I looked at as I planned to keep it long term + I love the outback touring trips, etc..... How long I keep it will depend on how big my 3 kids grow to......cheers..... Rob (macca)

Currently working out in the NPY lands area and you'd be glad that you didn't have a 2011/12 Nissan Patrol. They are all cracking at the rear chassis, one so bad that the rear end was was moving separately from the front. Most belong to Education Dept and have been sent to Alice for major repairs. In the mean time the tax payer is picking up the tab for the rented Pajeros.Dave

No cracked guards on my 150 v6 has dual batteries ARB steel bar winch etc and Hutch will agree it is used primarily as a 4WD and touring vehicle.

Still not a lot of 150 Prado's with guard cracking on this forum, when you consider how many members have a diesel 150. Interesting what bushbasher shared about the so called tough Patrol, keeps things in perspective. It seems today they ain't making any 4WD like they used to. If I ever get rid of my Prado I would be buying an older land cruiser and doing a rebuild.....but, still love my Prado. I have several mates who have Prado's and Hilux all diesel's, done years traveling in the outback, no problems.Last edited by outback7; 21-12-2013, 07:27 AM.

We use 150 series at work (mining). All are fitted with steel bull bars of various makes, i looked a 4 in the carpark the other night. No signs of cracks although there were cracks in one bull bar mount. Mine is 2years old with 120k of mostly corrugations and bulldust holes. Interested to know the cause as while there arent a lot it is still common enough.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2014 VX D4D. Dobinson 2 inch lift. TJM T3 Bullbar. rhino platform. TraxRax. Maxtrax. Dual batteries. GME TX3450.
