  • 2014 GTG Vic high country - ask anything here

I just wanted to be the first to post under this heading

Ok so the important information will be coming starting over the next couple of weeks.
This can be the messy ask anything thread.

Hopefully you will get an answer from a committee member or the 2014PPGTG itself might answer once it is born.

The Gtg will be held in the VIC high country
    Starting around the Mansfield area.
It will include seeing some huts, including Craig's hut.
We will be camped at Talbotville for most of the time after the first day or 2.
Talbotville is not far from Dargo pub & fuel.
Talbotville is a huge camping area set along a river bank, there are 23 river crossings within 5 Klm's.
There are 2 long drop toilet blocks.

Dates: meet Tuesday 8th April 2014 till Wednesday 16th April 2014

Also wife wants to know how far (klms/time) is it from the camp site (Talbotville) back to Dargo. I think I know why she's asking this question but Im not sure yet ?? Hi Steve,
Based on committee members alone, there is already a couple kids close to that age. I'm sure there will b more.
About 30mins on dirt road plus another 30mins on winding blacktop to between Talbotville & Dargo.
I'm just guessing 40klms or so?

Interested to come along for a day trip/ visit from Melbourne. We would have a 4 and 6 year old with us.

What's the required car setup for this?

Well there will be a family from Tasmania. We are looking forward to our second GTG as well. We are bring our two boys 4 & 6 and if like last time there will be quite a few kids running around together.

I am sure there will be questions closer to the time but it is just great to get the dates so a boat can be booked.

Oops sorry a question was just thrown at me, what temperatures would we be expecting at that time of year?

Is there going to be a base where a larger camper caravan can be based for the event or will a full off road camper trailer be required for multiple position changes involving challenging tracks

We will be adding what is required for the GTG soon.

Is there a reason why you don't want to come to the whole GTG ?

Vaughan Its the high country I would work on it can always be cold and wet .
I have been in the High Country for Chritsmas Twice and Easter Twice . Christmas in the river and very nice during the day still cool at night .
Easter can be cold at night and if your game you could go for a swim but you should still be able to get the shorts on if the suns out.

Still finalising the first part ,If its at a caravan park no Drama with the van the only thing you will would probably have to take a longer route to Talbotville .

I have seen a Jayco Toy Hauler come down the hill into Talbotville but I wouldn't be taking a very large van down the hill there is a nice drop off to one side and the road is really only one way .

Some of the committee wives are going to set up at Talbotville before the Tuesday meet up .
That may be an option for you depending on the size of your van and if you want to tent swag the first few days .

We are finalising the first part and we will be posting info about carvans , camper trailers .

                    Anders

                    Small part of Talbotville

A section of McMillans road .

                            Hey Brad,

I didn't have anything to do with dates, but i Was told it lines up with most school holidays......
Maybe it's n.s.w that put their school holidays at he wrong time.
