  • Nakor's 2013 Kakadu

Time to start a thread here as I am passing the 10,000 km mark with my new Prado 150 Kakadu 2013.

Got it out of the factory and negotiated few options with delivery including:
    • Tainted front window
    • Alloy nudge bar
    • Tyre pressure monitoring system - TPMS
    • Towbar
    • Cargo mat
    • Aero Roof Rack (2 Bar Set) - Roof Rail Type

First thing to say about the above is that the Alloy nudge part is placed straight in the middle of the front camera and making it nearly useless to use. Surely Toyota could have identify this and come up with a better design for it. As I am going to set a bull bar, this makes me think about making sure I can re-allocate it forward to be able to use it to full capacity.

The TPMS system is a great way to monitor the pressure and saved me from some guaranteed punctures during a recent trip on the gravel road from Central Australia. Only disappointment is that it is beeping nearly each time I start to drive as the pressure increase with heat. So if you set it at 38 PSI cold, after a few km's they will go up to 40+ and generate a beeping signal. It is very quick to stop but still annoying. Again Toyota could have allow for this changes as it is also monitoring the heat from the tyre and could have set some expected pressure increase.

Other that this, extremely happy with everything that Kakadu has to offer in terms of comfort. Looking now for all the mod to make it ready for the outback terrain!

Will keep this thread up-to-date with them as they come...

I don't understand why the TPMS keeps beeping. Sound like its settings aren't correct.

I have the Toyota TPMS and you can set the temperature & pressure tolerances. The alarm only goes off if these tolerances are reached, if there is rapid deflation or the battery doesn't send a signal. The alarm shouldn't go off just from normal temp/pressure increase from driving.

Glad you bring this up ntp. Definitely checked the settings a few times and it is set correctly. There is no way to set the temperature & pressure tolerance on mine. I mentioned this to Toyota during my 10K service and they said it works all fine... just to realise it was beeping again 2 days later!

I just picked up the instructions booklet again and they actually provided a pre-set table of low and high alarm based on PSI. I set my tyre at 38 and low should beep at 28 and high at 56psi which is definitely not the case as I am beeping at 41 or so... Will bring this up again with Toyota at my next visit.

While I am at it, I might as well post the measurement I took in regards to this KDSS lean that I am now fascinating about. Might got a couple of mm wrong but I am sure it will be interesting to compare after the bull bar / winch fitting I'll do in a while...

                Front driver 760mm
                Front passenger 780mm

                Back driver 780mm
                Back passenger 800mm
