A fantastic report Paul, really appreciate the detail and photos.
How much water do you think you were using on average per day?
      Cheers

We had the 40L Boab rear footwell tank and we could easily get 2 days - 3 days out of it. We just made sure that we topped up whenever the opportunity presented. The patrol had 40L, the other patrol had 90L, Richo had about 60L, Landrover had around 40L and LFaR had 120L or 150L so collectively we were carrying heaps. We weren't using the water for showers just drinking and washing up. Obviously the water required would increase fairly substantially if you were using it for showering.

          Paul....

When sourcing your Water.... Was that from Taps (for Drinking water) or did it also include from some of the running/flowing creeks or is it not advisable to drink water from these running creeks ?? If u did drink the water from the creek is it advisable to boil it 1st?

            Rob,

We were able to source from treated tap water suitable for drinking. We also had some water purification tablets had we had to source from streams etc but there was no need as we filled up when there was an opportunity. Also much better to have a full tank as the sloshing sound of a half full tank isn't the best.

Firstly I have updated the entry at
                              http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post425771

Now I continue with the adventure.

So on the way north we had heard that Palm Creek was difficult and that quite a number of vehicles were not even attempting to cross Palm Creek. Once we got to Bramwell Junction we decided to refuel vehicles first prior to having lunch.

Once lunch was complete we had noticed quite a number of vehicles head towards Palm Creek only to see them drive back out and head up the Bypass track towards Bamaga. So we thought it must be way too hard and we decided that we too should take this much easier less adventurous option...as well. I mean we didn't want to risk breaking any fingernails having to do any track building. Yeah sure!

Off we went taking the Old Telegraph Track (OTT) and heading towards the first crossing Palm Creek. When we were about 200 metres into the track we were passed by a group heading back out who were saying that it was impassable, we were quite shocked as there was a 150 Prado in the group. Were we about to find the same, should we just turn around and head back to Brisbane, I mean we'd only driven a bit over 2500 kms so far and I guess if it was going to be too hard then we just should give it a go.

Once we arrived at Palm Creek we all went to check it out to see how bad it really was.

And YES it was pretty bad but we could do some track building, dragging some logs and larger branches to an area in the left track that was about 80cm lower than the right track. Richo at this point when shovels were coming out and lifting was involved had disappeared! (For some reason I checked my vehicle when I got back just to make sure Richo hadn't sabotaged my vehicle in any way) No idea why I would think that..
