  • Procedure to replace auto transmission fluid in KZJ95R 1KZ-TE -- 2001 TX

    Hi folks,

About to do the 160,000km service, which includes automatic transmission fluid replacement. Anyone know of the specific procedure to carry out this part of the service?

Can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere.

Wondering if there is any particular reason not to use this method:

Seems to be the simplest method to fully replace the old fluid. I did read somewhere that it's a bit tricky getting the replacement fluid levels accurate. Is there a filter? If so, necessary to replace it? Not mentioned in the service/warranty book.

    Any thoughts/info greatly appreciated.

I've replaced mine using the transmission to pump it through. I needed almost 20l before it ran clear, but I didn't drain it out the bottom first. I was pumping out about 2l at a time and topping it up again. I didn't have any problems with the fluid levels afterwards.

Thanks mate. Sounds like the way to go. Too bad the Xmission fluid is so expensive though. Guess that's one of the reasons why the garages charge so much to do the deed.
