I have another question, does the wire that goes from the steering wheel center to the cruise control stalk have a separate part number? Do I need to replace it?

Looks like I lost the entire thread that I had started a few days earlier and post photos of my wire

How do I remover the steering wheel column cover so that I can trace some of the colors at the bottom of the clock spring. Input would be appreciated on where to plug the three wires coming out of my cruise control stalk which are colored red, white and black.

Just read your message. I don't have the photos anymore but I had a look at your eBay thread. I take it it didn't come with red and black wires with plug coming out of the switch?

With the new wires, simply remove them from the new plug using the pin and screw driver technique, YouTube it if you need and put the new wires in your old OME plug.

Now to remove the steering column cover, I think it just carefully pulls apart with a couple of side clips. Might have screws underneath but I don't think so from memory. You may need to remove the lower dash panels, 2 of them but a couple of screws/bolts. (One hiding behind the silver panel near the ignition)

The brake switch wasn't needed. Mine told the Ecu to cancel the cruise automatically.

I think I used the Tacoma forum to work out the wiring, bit of trial and error. Also wiring diagram in workshop manual shows which wire controls cruise from the clock spring to the ecu (colour). Follow the wire to the clock Spring plug, It will have a number on that side of the plug. Use the corresponding number in the steering wheel plug. Do the same for the earth wire.

Hope that helps. Sorry for late reply, Christmas!!

Quick search gave me this for Toyota prado. It's a bit shaky but should help.

                  Hi Wal,

Thanks for your input, if the pins are numbered, I can try and use the corresponding pin numbers on the clock spring. The colors below the clock spring do not correspond to the three wires coming out of the cruise control switch which are red, white, and black, I will try matching up the numbers tonight and giving it another shot, this is assuming I can removes the pins form the OEM plug without breaking anything

I have seen the video, it is a bit confusing, I wish he took his time to explain what wires he placed in the OEM plug.

Will post progress on this interesting project as and when it happens. Cheers.

I know its an old thread but I need to know where is the cruise control module located?
I have a 120 1kz-te A/T and have already installed the stalk and cable but nothing works.
After some searching online, i heard that 1kz models don't have the cruise module installed.

I need to know the location so i can ask an online wrecker where it is located on the 120 for them to remove.
                    Thanks in advance.

Hey guys got all the parts ordered except for the stalk mounting screws. I read that they were a 10/32 by 1/2inch, but does anyone know what the thread type would be...ie unf, unc or???
Thanks to anyone who can help
