              No oil missing, so I'm hoping it's a spill from draining the sump.
              With the car in for its service today, the mechanic found a leak from the Rocker Cover Gasket - this explains the oil on the transmission...

                • Had same oil leaks from rocker cover. Lucky I had extended warranty. Dealer said that they allow 14 labour hours, all up with parts it's about $2000. Had to stay in for 2 days.

                    So mine wasnt as big as yours...about 3 extra labour hours, with the repair and service costing $550.

                    • I'm thinking about a Pioneer Platform rack at the moment but need to manage the height. Can you possibly tell me what the distance is from the roof of the car to the top of your platform rack? (excluding any other accessories on the rack)

                        It averages about 100mm (the roof slopes down at the front, so its a bit more there.)

                        • It is with some sadness and some excitement that I let you all know that I bit the bullet (again) and have ordered a PX2 Ranger XLT. It'll be coming to me in a similar state to the Prado - Bar work, Tyres, Snorkel, Suspension etc. It's getting that Norweld Tray and Canopy I mentioned in other posts (the photos are of my actual set-up):





                          The Prado is getting traded in (for a decent price actually) at Etheridge Ford when the Ranger is ready - The tray and canopy are on a 10 day journey down from Cairns...Im expecting delivery either late next week or early the week after.

                          I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their help, whether it was personalised or just a tip I read somewhere...I will definitely miss the pradopoint family (I'll admit that the "newranger" community isnt quite the same, but, their advice is always handy for a new owner)

Out of interest, I'm sure some other folk as well, I will interested in your experiences over the coming few months, comparing your experience with the Prado and then your new experiences with the Ranger...if you don't mind, a couple of brief posts would be of great interest.

                            It will be a very different set up than the prado of course, and of further interest, how much do you expect the rear assembly you have ordered for the ranger will weigh?...and are the holes in the driver side front locker door purely for ventilation for the fridge?...wont that let water and dust in?....ah, ha, I just looked at the Norweld site....doggy ventilation.

                              It is a bit of a change, yeah. I'll put together some comparisons to help others make informed choices in the future.

                              The Tray and Canopy weigh 350kg. The tray is actually lighter than the factory tub, so theres a little saving there. Im getting +300kg leaf packs in the rear which should be able to take the extra weight - time will tell if I need the +600kg instead.

                              Not yet sure if theres enough ventilation for the dog - wont know until I get the ute and test it out. There is ventilation around fridge, but only internal to the canopy.

                              • You'll love the power of the Ranger compared to the Prado. I loved driving my cousins PX2 last week and was a bit sad to hop back in the gutless Prado.
                                Can only imagine what a tuned one goes like.

                                I'll have to keep an eye out for the modded Ranger whenever I'm in Benalla.
