Hmm...I wonder if our North American brethern has this issue with the Lexus GX470 as the only option is the V8?

        HI all,

Recently I have noticed a tapping sound upon starting on my 2004 120 V6 Manual, owned since new. I noticed the engine was tilting to passenger side and took it to my Mechanic. To cut a long story short, we found cracking around the engine mount, where it attached to the chassis, along with one section had come away from the chassis as it seems.

After much discussion regarding possible causes, including fatigue from accelerating and decelerating and some heavy towing, I decided to take around the corner to a local dealership. The service engineer immedietly advised me to bring the vehicle in, which I did, and he would have to write a report and send to Toyota. I am unsure how long this process may take.

I was also advised by the dealership that the non-genuine ARB bar may have contributed to the problem?

I have not been off road for well over a year, since being diagnosed with Lyme Disease from a Tick Byte. I am always careful when off road, with the vehicle mainly having some cosmetic damage. I love the vehicle and have had no issues with it in this regard or mechanically and am very series about its maintenance over the years.

I have read the above reports and it does seem encouraging in regards to toyotas response overall.

Does any one have further advice?

        Many thanks!

Gday mate I am unsure if your still around to help. My local dealership are trying to search for the part that you have mentioned above. Do you know if it is an actual toyota part with a number they can call upon?… Or which dealership you dealt with by any chance. Many thanks, Nick

Apart from the engine leaning, what are the symptoms of this?

Well, add me to the list..

2006 120 V6. 284,000 kms. Mine went in last week for a Trans service and flush, the guys said they would look at why it was making a light clunk going into Reverse and drive.. They loaded up the trans on the brake and seems that broke the camels back, and the engine dropped to the side and mount pushed into the chassis. It was cracked about 75% of the way around, with only the top holding.

I had a reputable 4x4 shop look at it today, and they wanted to either drop the diff or remove the engine. And would quote me up as such. Expected fix maybe $5-7k. Toyota said it would be similar pricing.

Tonight I had a mate who specialises in building pretty exotic off road and race vehicles for big names like Robby Gordon etc have a look.

Didn't take anything off the car, simply tied the tow points down to a handy Bobcat we had laying around in the yard for some weight to stop the front end lifting and put a porta power hydraulic jack under the engine mount, a few good pumps and the mount pulled back out the chassis perfectly.

A few quick tacks with the Mig before releasing it off the bobcat and porta power.

A good clean up with the die grinder and 30 mins with the MIG welder.. Added a brace plate to the bottom of the mount and chassis to avoid it cracking again.
We got a lot of heat into the welds and some really deep penetration, they are good and solid.. Almost look like they have been done by a robot they are so neat. Splash of brake cleaner and some gloss black paint and you wouldn't even pick it has been done.

All fixed in around 90 minutes which included a half dozen beers. Cost me a carton of corona. Pretty happy with that result!

Well I've just joined the list, 2005 Prado 120 - 250,000 km's V6 Petrol auto, went to get new engine mounts installed and the mechanic found the engine mount bracket on the passenger side has partly come off the chassis

Has anyone else got someone in Brisbane that has fixed this for them?
