It's great that you have been out and about with it plenty already.

Mate they always get warm, too hot to touch once you've aired up 4 tyres! The metal of the bracket will probably act as a heat shield both ways if anything.

Red Arc override and indicator fitted... It was fun hacking away at the backside of the blank switch plate, not.

I've ordered a Runva 11xp from Ozioffroad in Black, can't wait.

Anyone got any hints on how to run cables through the firewall grommets? It's a dog of a job, I hate doing it and dread doing the larger twin core stuff to do rear power.

I just noticed my compressor is now in the way of my grommet after i had the water monitor setup, so i am not looking forward to changing my telstra antenna!

Best tip i have is using a screw driver philips head to gently widen the hole a bit and twist it around. I'm sure someone else has some better tips. Works for me though.

        Hey all

So it's been an interesting couple of weeks, a few great successes and a few minor set backs!

I recieved my Runva 11xp from Ozioffroad, very quick shipping!

I tried to fit it, and failed. The way the clutch lever sits on the top of the gear meant the only way of making it fit in the 150 Facelift prado would have been to rotate it and have it sit on the side facing the radiator, which made it impossible to get to. So I ordered a low profile clutch lever, hoping that solve my problems, with the intention of mounting it with the clutch lever facing the front. It turns out that this configuration will NOT work, as the lever sticks out on the "back" side (sort of like a T handle, just shorter on one side.)
So.. I had to get the dremel out and make some strategic cuts into the grill, due to it coming down past the top of the bullbar, it cannot be seen...

Looking from the front through the bullbar.

We did another trip up to Zig Zag, doing the powerlines right before the turn off to the Lost City. My friend in his D22 Navara came into a rough situation requiring a winch pulling the vehicle across, with another vehicle pulling it down the hill. The Runva performed flawlessly, a great first stress test, and an hour of recovering.

Towards the end of the day we decided to do the trip out to the Lost City. As we stepped out of the vehicles at the top I noticed that one of my tyres was quickly deflating. I had a deep puncture in the sidewall of the passenger side rear tyre sidewall, and a very quick deflation. We had the vehicle up and the wheel swapped in 5 minutes, impact wrenches making short work of this.

        Fresh tyre fitted

Upon returning to the carpark at Zig Zag to air up, I noticed I had another deep cut in the passenger side front tyre sidewall... I was extremely lucky not to puncture it.

So I have spent most of today calling tyre shops and looking at upgrading tyres, as the Passenger tyre AT/3's really aren't strong enough, and aren't tall enough anymore! So I am booked in tomorrow to fit a set of 275/70/R17 Cooper ST Maxx and I have ordered a rear wheel spacer from AMTS.

And a short video of the Prado 3 wheeling, over the last few trips, really can't beat the traction control in this truck. A whole bunch of comp trucks came through the powerlines and thought I was crazy for tackling the hills in the condition they were in. Never shy from a challenge.

Has anyone had any luck with fixing scratches on their colour coded bull bar? I must have scraped past a big branch and took a bit of paint off...

        Cheers all!

Nice work mate, great to see the winch came in handy.

Hate to say it, but its normal for cooper tyres to do what you have pictured above... see my ST MAXX here with the same problem. Although I do believe they have a stronger side wall, i'm still not sure I trust coopers.

Tried fitting 275/70/R17 ST Maxx's on the stock rims today, NO go! Doesn't clear the UCA. Bugger. Put a set of 265/70/R17's on and ordered one of AMTS's spacers! The ST Maxx's are significantly stronger and have much nicer sidewalls than the AT3's.

Matt I actually sliced the AT3 sidewalls... it was only a matter of time with the passenger construction tyres (6 ply vs 10 ply) I should have sold them earlier, rather than cut up 2 tyres.

So a bit up and down... Fitted the AMTS rear tyre spacer, easy as install, going to get the rear light going soon too.
I lent the Prado to a friend from The Offroad Adventure Show (Coming to Channel 10, November 2! https://www.facebook.com/offroadadventureshow?fref=ts ) to use as a camera car/shoot a comparison video between the Lightforce 240 XGT's and the LED215's.

I think I will keep them! They are seriously bright, have amazing spread and there isn't an annoying focused spot of light in the center of the beam. The overall range might not be as good, but you'd really struggle to notice, I can't wait to take the Prado out and give it a proper go in the dark.

Some bad news... I was looking over the vehicle and discovered my month old Coopers ST Maxx's have a 1cmx1cm patch of rubber missing, down to the white stuff, out of the sidewall on the passenger front tyre. Pretty angry about this. I'll be going to the tyre shop on Tuesday and seeing what they will do for me. They've done less than 2000km... One offroad trip... Always airred down. We will see what happens.

The cooper thing is normal, cosmetic only. I had it happen on my patrol and had six pairs replaced under warranty. Even when one set got to 40,000km. It's a problem with the layer of white rubber that is in the one side of the tyre just for the White rubber.

They are called flow cracks. Manufacturing defect.

                    Hi Jono,

Inspirational thread mate. Is your spare a Coopers as well? The reason why I ask is that Im looking at alternative AT (eg. Maxxis, Yokohama etc) and not sure if the AT options fit in the under the spare wheel cover.

I removed my spare wheel cover and put an AMTS spacer in... looks far better in my opinion, but it certainly isn't for everyone. The AT/3 in a 265/70/R17 should fit under the cover, I've been told. The ST MAX certainly won't. Coopers snubbed me with the defect in the tyre. I'm not touching them again, should have gone with BFG's, should have gone 285's, should have just bought rims for the prado, buyer regret there.

In the last month I've fitted the reversing light and AMTS spacer, and in the new year I am considering a Steinbauer chip, which is well outside what I originally intended for this vehicle.

Jono do you know what you'd be looking at for a Steinbauer ? I've heard $1500 and i've also heard 3k which sounds a bit over the top. Be interested to know why you want to go down this path too

As much as I'd like to, I will be wearing these tyres till they die, or I upgrade to 6 wheels...! Hah! DC Torque's are very cool, specially with some BFG KM2's on them... Droool.

I got quoted around $1600 from the 4WD show in Sydney a couple of months ago($1700 RRP, not fitted). I saw the dyno graphs, 25kW/82Nm power increase (Available on their website: http://www.steinbauer.cc/media/datas...-kw-170-hp.pdf ) That with a 2.75" exhaust and the thing would sound unreal and be quite different to drive. It's not that the Prado is slow, I'm just looking to not drive it as hard, to get it up to speed. (Fuel consumption driving around Sydney at 12L/100km at the moment...)

I've come across Flexitank's new diesel certified 100L tank for inbetween the front and rear seats, looks unreal! Very keen and a great alternative to fitting a Long Ranger and not carrying jerry cans. Boosting the Prado's diesel capacity to 250L for $900, as well as being removable and not messing with the factory fuel system or the distance to empty calculations, definitely on the list.
