    • Fitted a Scott's Rods 3" system to the old girl.
The old dump nuts were dreadful to get off, swearing didn't help either.
Tailpipe hard against the tow bar bolts so did some modification to the hanger and all sweet.
Sounds the same inside, a bit like a tractor outside.
      Zero difference in power.
Will have to add some boost next, sitting on 10psi at present.

          • Drove 2 laps of the Mount Panorama race track whilst towing a Jayco Eagle caravan, one lap in each direction. (LOL)

This complies with 'done to your Prado' as I felt it bordered on vehicle abuse since it was for no decent purpose
but the UN in the driver's seat insisted we do it, van and all.

The old Prado pulled the van "wrong direction" UP the esses without missing a beat.

            • Sounds a bit like a Top Gear challenge. Tow a caravan wrong way round a racetrack leaderboard shows you on top. Hope you timed it so everyone else can try to beat it!

                      • That's unfortunate. Was it swallowing a bit of coolant and steaming out the exhaust or leaking coolant into the engine oil?

                        • Forgive me. It's been quiet some time since checking in, and the old girl has received a fair bit of love in the past couple of months. Fitted up some dobbie suspension, new winch bar and Runva 11xp, new fridge, front end rebuild and modified some 80s recovery point's. I must admit the old gril is looking better then ever

                          • Hi All.
I'm new here and I'm loving this thread.
So I'm currently working on my rig.
I have taken of the aluminium side steps and re sprayed my rims.
I found a Pajero ARB bumper for a really good price and modified it a little to get it to fit. I then sprayed it the same colour as my plastics and it think it came out great. My winch fits perfectly as well.
I have a Safari roof rack on the way that will get sprayed as well.
I also have LED bar, spot lights and wheel spacers in the mail and will post some pics of those once they are on.
Oh and I'm about to start my diy drawer system. Anybody have any plans for me???

Now to start saving for a lift kit

                            • I've never been too worried about upgrading my old spot lights, that was until driving back from Bremer Bay over New Years and my son (who was a good kilometre behind me) was picking up roos that were ahead of me on the side of the road with his light bar before I was.

When I got home I started to think about it, I never really go out with the intention of driving after dark, but for one reason or another all my recent trips had seen me driving well into the night so I started to rethink the condition of my 15 year old Nanes.

Not wanting to spend a fortune, I started looking at products from Stedi and after umming and ahhing for some time I bit the bullet and bought some Type X 8.5" driving lights.

It was a bit of a mission to install them, only because of the generous amount of cable supplied and me not wanting to cut and ruin any of the supplied fittings.

Anyway here a a few comparison photos, taken from approx the same location, around the same time of night on my Gopro.

                              Local street
                              Nanes

                              Stedi

                              Deserted street
                              Nanes

                              Stedi

To be honest, the biggest disappointment is the Gopro, in the photos the Nanes actually compare pretty well with the Stedis, but in real life the difference is considerable.

Overall, money well spent (on the lights), now I just have to try them out in the bush
