An adjustment maybe all that it needs. Once the bonnet is up, (if not up get someone to push down on the bonnet while trying to release) adjust the stop rubbers either side back so there is no pressure when closed. Adjust the catch in the centre until bonnet closes nicely then adjust the stops back up until they take some load. You will have to raise and close the bonnet numerous times but that's how I get he best result. Having said that never had to adjust my Prado yet.

I'm sure there are some panel beaters on this forum who could better advise you.

I have had the issue where the cable has come un-attatched to the lever inside the cabin but that was easy to tell as there was no resistance when pulling the lever.

        Just my two cents worth.

Hi Hazza, just got on this thread as my Prado 120 bonnet was moving up and down a bit while driving. Thanks to your post I now know there are bonnet stop rubbers to adjust which I just did and now the bonnet is a nice snug fit again.
          Thanks

I had a very rattly bonnet. In the end I spaced up the 2 rubber stoppers on either side to take the play out of it. There is not a lot of adjustment on the catch itself. If you have had it rattling for a while check that the grill mounts are not broken. I just did mine and found that the top three were all broken. Hot glue-gunned them back on and plastic-dipped the grill.

                hi,
if the stoppers were fully loosened and didnt get rid of the rattle then there might be a chance the latch lock requires adjusting. The factory latch hole should have some slight movement for this required adjustment
