Yeah they can be hard to diagnose.
If you have a front wheel bearing noise, do both.
If you have a humming, like a mild front diff whine, likely wheel bearing.

I think I might have this problem as well. I put the whine down to the tyres wearing but my mate that runs the same tyres reckons his are quiet and have done about the same k's.

I also get a high frequency vibration, similar to the buzz you get off a lot of 4 cylinder bikes, at various speeds that you can feel through the steering wheel just enough to make me think something is going on. The vibration does not change power on or off and you feel it the worst coasting at about 30kmhr.

And yep it might have been on the beach once or twice.

Yep all fixed now was the drivers side front wheel bearing was the culprit

                Thanks all

If you jack each front wheel up off the ground one at a time then spin it by hand while having a large screwdriver with one end (the blunt end preferably :-) held firmly to your ear and the other end to the back of the hub (the non spinning bit) as close to the bearing as possible then surely the crook bearing would sound crunchier/rougher than the good side when comparing both hubs... worth a try anyway.

I've got the same issue with my 2010 150 front end after 170,000k's. Looking to replace both bearing sets. Are there any recommended after market sets or should I stick with standard Toyota units?
If there is an OK after market set of bearings and seal could someone provide a part number and a supplier in Brisbane?

Don Kyatt sell original Toyo Bearings for about $80 each from memory. I bought one and took it to Pedders South Melbourne to swap over and from memory they charged about $100 do do so. (one)

Bearings are expensive and labour cost is high. You be lucky to get it done for under $2k. Toyota bearings through Don saved me nearly $200 and delivered overnight . You need some serious gear to do the rear end too, good luck. Mmm beer

are these prices to replace the bearing itself or the hub assembly ? plenty of youtube vids on how to do it , about an hour each side ?

My front left is also gone after 140k - a common issue ?
Anyone have issues pressing the old bearings out ?
