Wheel bearing vibration

I think I might have this problem as well. I put the whine down to the tyres wearing but my mate that runs the same tyres reckons his are quiet and have done about the same k's.
I also get a high frequency vibration, similar to the buzz you get off a lot of 4 cylinder bikes, at various speeds that you can feel through the steering wheel just enough to make me think something is going on. The vibration does not change power on or off and you feel it the worst coasting at about 30kmhr.
And yep it might have been on the beach once or twice.

If you jack each front wheel up off the ground one at a time then spin it by hand while having a large screwdriver with one end (the blunt end preferably :-) held firmly to your ear and the other end to the back of the hub (the non spinning bit) as close to the bearing as possible then surely the crook bearing would sound crunchier/rougher than the good side when comparing both hubs... worth a try anyway.

I've got the same issue with my 2010 150 front end after 170,000k's. Looking to replace both bearing sets. Are there any recommended after market sets or should I stick with standard Toyota units?
If there is an OK after market set of bearings and seal could someone provide a part number and a supplier in Brisbane?Last edited by bicter; 14-05-2017, 05:53 PM.

Bearings are expensive and labour cost is high. You be lucky to get it done for under $2k. Toyota bearings through Don saved me nearly $200 and delivered overnight . You need some serious gear to do the rear end too, good luck. Mmm beerCrystal Pearl Altitude 150 Landcruiser Prado. TJM sensor bar, brush guard, side steps. KM2 BFG on GXL alloys.
