I reckon I could manage a bit of time to do a bit of tour guide stuff too, although if anyone wants to do the full Balfour track I'd have to go as a passenger as I won't be taking my prado through.

      Cheers Palmer,
That's the kind of info that I was needing. Ill look into flights to Launceston and ill get the missus from there.
      Thanks Bud.

Yeah, Palmer120 and I were discussing that. It might prove to be a better option, but would be dependent on members' preferences.

Understand though, I don't really want to be looking a gift horse in the mouth, so to speak.

Well it is decided. We will be going to the tassie GTG.
We went to the first GTG in 2009, and can't wait to get back to tassie and to catch up with the current batch of PPers.
Good to see some WA people keen. And would also like to spend some time there after the official things are done and dusted. So I'd like to convoy it with some fello WAPPers if your keen.

            Jeff.

I do believe that VKPrado's other half, is going to organise an info pack. But that being said, might start another thread on here as well.

It just depends on who you are with, if you are towing, if you don't mind blacktop. That being said - there is lots to see!

We'll be up for a convoy from WA, maybe meet up in Norseman or somewhere. Then have to catch Bushbasher in Port Augusta as I guess he'll be coming down the Tanimi from Broome. Suppose I'd better book the ferry soon. We'll most likely choose a one way ticket as we would like to spend a bit of time there after the GTG.
                Can't we just keep travelling?

Just lodged my holiday request at work and waiting for approval. Then to book the ferry, looking forward to this GTG as I haven't been to Tassie for years.

SOunds like a good idea. We've only got a week and have 3 kids under 8, so it will have to be 'major' kid friendly sites.

Still got to decide if I'm bringing a trailer yet.

We are planning 2 weeks after the GTG to have a good look around...
There is a lot to learn but im sure we could fill 2 weeks in fairly easily.

                          Right, we are committed!
Ferry is booked, depart Melbourne Fri 18th Sept and return Fri 30th Oct. Cost us $1040 return for just me in a shared inside cabin and our Prado towing a small(yet to be built) caravan. Sherron will fly due to seasickness(might also be cheaper too).
That gives us a week of looking around before the GTG, then another 4 weeks after. Should be long enough, just hope we can save enough money to afford that much time off work! Really looking forward to having a good look around Tassie and having a crack at some of the mountain bike trails over there.
So....that may not work for others that want to convoy from WA, but we'll see you there.
On another note, when do we put our name down for the GTG? Better be soon because we will be overseas in about 3 weeks and wont have that much internet access. Although booking the ferry kinda means I am committed to coming really, so put my name on the list! 2 adults.
                          Can't we just keep travelling?

The registration will hopefully be put up tonight, fingers crossed. Was meant to be last night but spent most of it in emergency with one very sore and broken boy after falling off a fence, nothing that 3 weeks in plaster will not fix.

Only the one day off school will be enough. He will mend so all will be good.
