Does anyone have reliable/accurate information on how long I should expect to get from the Turbo before replacement?
We have a 150 series Prado (2010) which is no longer under warranty. Has 130,000kms on the clock. Serviced every 5,000kms, well maintained. A whistling/siren like sound began a couple weeks ago and we have taken it to both the Toyota dealer and an independant diesel mechanic and both reports suggest the turbo requires replacement.
I am trying to get this replaced by Toyota as I wouldnt have expected to have to fork out almost $5,000 to replace a Turbo this soon, however I know they will argue it has not been serviced by Toyota on a regular basis (it has been serviced by reputable mechanics and self-serviced for oil and fuel filter etc) and they can not guarantee the work completed on it in the past hasnt contributed to the turbo failure and yadda yadda yadda.....
Am I right to stick this out or should we just suck it up and replace at our own cost?
Thanks for your help!
