We went camping over Easter and just before we left, I was looking at a better way to carry my cooking gear in my roller drawer.
So up to the shed to see what I had laying around and after a few hours I had made an insert box that holds all of the eating kit as well as some cooking kit.
Pics are pretty much self explanatory.

It's been a while since I've done much to my Prado as I've been busy building an off road trailer. Now that is done it's back to playing with the car.
Had big box from Safari arrive at work a couple of days ago :-), so that will hopefully go on this weekend.
Also bought a diff and gearbox breather kit and a GME TX3500s UHF. I've started making a roof console to mount the radio in (pics soon)

It was a hot one here in Perth today, but I got my snorkel fitted.

Started with a blank canvas so to speak.

All marked up and ready to drill, the point of no return!

Holes all done, gave them a good sand and a coat of rust guard.

                All fitted :-)

The whole thing took me about four hours, I found the instructions from Safari detailed and easy to follow.
The biggest drama I had was removing the inner guard lining, after spending about ten minutes trying to get the first two plastic clips out without breaking them, I gave up and cut them off. When I was done a re-attached it by drilling next to where the clips went and using self tappers with a washer under the head.

Cost me $42, I just need to make a bracket to attach to the firewall.

                      Cheers,

I got stuck into a couple of projects today.

First one was my roof console, got the brackets marked up and drilled and started getting the upholstery on.

The other job I started was for a work light/aerial mount behind the spare wheel.
I had a look at a few designs and settled on making one along the lines of the kaymar unit.
Got as far as getting the spacing plate bent and holes drilled.

                        Cheers,

                            Thanks Matt,

At the front of the console I have some brackets that will screw up inside of the recess where the interior lights were. These are accessed via the speaker hole.
The back of the console has aluminium right angle running along either side, this will attach with screws through the roof lining into one of the ribs/channels that stiffen the roof.

                            Cheers,

                            Mark

Hi Mark, How did you find the Rhino rack after you installed it was it very noisy.

Ps I'm enjoying the build thread.

I've had the rhino rack on for about two years now and you wouldn't know it was up there.
