  • +30 offset

Hi guys looking at buying some rims for my kakadu,

It's stock as a rock in the suspension department,

Will +30 rims fit on? They are 17/9

    Thanks heaps

    Mike

I think you may struggle beyond +20..
I just put 17x9 +20's with 285's on them and they go very close to the guard line and just clip the mudflap when turning at low speed..
we trial fitted +30's with 265's and it was a no go..

+30 on a Kakadu is illegal. The 9" width will most likely foul on the KDSS components.

No. Won't fit (will rub on the KDSS naughty bits) and would be illegal anyway because they reduce track. FJ wheels fit and are legal. I think they are +15 but check the wheel database on here.

dont want to argue but I am staring out the window right now looking at a Kakadu with 17x9 +20's that fit fine..
Did you try them on your Kakadu and they not fit?

The OP's question was about rims with an offset of P30 and that is what I replied to, not your posts. With regards to yours you didn't state it was on a Kakadu and sorry but if they rub even a little bit to me that means they don't fit properly. The FJ rims fit without ant issues.

Heya guys, I just bought my 2012 and looking at changing the rims, maybe tyres later, but was going to stick with the 18", though the tyre mob tells me it's a shocking size..
I'm just wondering with offsets, is +30 bringing the tyres closer together or further apart?
I've been told that trying to for 33" tyres with the standard +25 offset fouls on the upper control arm I think it was..
                  Cheers..

+30 brings the wheel closer together.

When specifying tyre size, you need to specify more than just 33". The exact size in normal terms is better - 285/70R17, etc.

                      After a bit more reasearch I'm looking at putting a 275/70R17 tyre on (10.8"W x 32.2"H) my 2012 Kakadu..

Do you know if will foul on anything..

I'm not sure where to go to find tyre dimensions that'd suit..

                          • You can't reduce the track on a car (mentioned above).
                          • You can increase your track on a MC type vehicle, like a prado, up to 50mm. (ncop)
                          • Use http://www.willtheyfit.com/ to check the track change (plug in your details and your proposed details).
                          • The wheel size database thread on this forum is a very good source of information. It will help gain an understanding of what you need to know.
                          • My understanding for 17" wheels/tyres is that 285/70/17 is the maximum practical size you can go before you need to start considering large mods.
                          • The standard 17"x7.5 GXL wheel offset is +25. Going a lower offset will widen your track. The maximum offset for a 285 without rubbing is somewhere in the vicinity of +15-+18mm for a 7.5 wide wheel. I am unsure about the kdss gear though.
                          • When going a 8 or 9" wheel, you need to consider the expanded width of the rim relative to the offset, and the track. My latest purchase is 17x8 +10, which is a 21mm track difference per wheel or 42mm in total. 4 more mm per wheel and I'd be breaking the rules.

                            Well I settled on Tuff T05 20x9 rims with 275/55R20 BFG KO2's..

I just want to be 100% certain that they'll be ok before ordering it all that it will fit..

There's a bloke who has 285/50R20's fitted and they are 0.7" diameter less but 0.4" wider and he seems to not have a problem..

                              This +1.
+30 makes it a narrower track = illegal. You need to go < +25 (which is the std 150 series offset).
