Does it also work when grabbing the door handle to lock/unlock the vehicle, or only via the fob?

Does the original Button still work? can you press it in and the mirrors close in if you need to?

It would be nice if the button acted as a on/off switch so you can disable if required.

The button works as it was before install nothing change.
I'am not in any way trying to convince anyone to buy /install this .Even myself was in doubt before I install this module. Too early to say how long this will last /or was it a good buy. for now it works for what is intended to.
              Thanks

What other wire can I tap into for permanent +12v? I don't have any accessories which I have run a permanent +12v wire to.

                Cheers

                  HI MaIG,
I think that is something that you have to worked out with a tester/multimeter, or the easiest is to run a wire straight from the positive of your battery.
                  Cheers

                      Hi Ceasar,

Mate pardon my ignorance but im lost in regards to the connection of the green wire. I have located three plugs under the kick panel, 1 black and two white. One white plug has a number of solid green wires in it the second plug has 2 green striped wires. Any chance you could give me a bit of advice which wire im after? A pic would be a lifesaver!

                        Hi Scott,
You have to connect the green wire from the module to the first green wire on top ( second grey connector ) . No cutting just tap it . See if I have the time to take photos over the week end but cannot promise ,preparing for the trip to Fraser over Easter, and still awaiting the shockies to be fitted sometime when it arrive. Mine works really well and very happy with it and the window closer. Another thing I discovered was when you turn off engine did not fold the mirror but once you lock it by pressing button ( remote and door handle ) and by opening any door with hazard light blinks 4 times it folds .
Hope it helps ,good luck Scott ,let me know if it works for you.
                        Cheers

Not sure if Toyota used same colour connectors but mine I connected it to second grey connector first green on top .

OK "stop press" I now have it sorted and all working with many thanks to Ceasar for his patience! I took a couple of photos for other members reference and will upload then shortly.

Once the drivers kick panel is removed these are the plugs you need to access,

The grey plus is the one you want and as Ceaser said you need to splice into the second top wire being the first green wire on the plug.

Connect the green wire from the module to this green wire from the plug, close door and lock at which time your mirrors should fold in.

Hi everyone. Thanks to this great forum I was able to hook this up to my new 2016 GXL.

Firstly, it appears that the module is not that readily available anymore. I had to do some hunting and eventually found a supplier on Aliexpress. The seller contacted me to confirm exactly which year I had as apparently there was a small change in the design of the plug that connects into the back of the mirror folding switch in the dash. Anyway, with that confirmed, a module appeared after about 3 weeks later.

True to the seller's word, the module is slightly different from that described in these posts. It appears that there was a wiring change in the Prados, most likely coinciding with the new 2.8 L motors being released. As such, the module I had was the same as described in previous posts, however instead of one wire to connect into the 'trigger wire' (that's the green one on the wiring plug correctly identified in previous posts) you have to connect two wires - one to a wire carrying an 'unlock' signal, and the other to a wire carrying a 'lock' signal.

I initially connected the green unlock from the module to the trigger wire as per the instructions above. The result was that the mirrors would fold on receiving a lock signal, but only unfold once the start button was pressed. I was ok with this arrangement as it generally worked however I really wanted them to fold and unfold on the lock and unlock.

So I went hunting through some wiring diagrams and fortunately the answer was very simple. In the posts above, there is a photo shown 4 connectors in the driver's side footwell. The top plug (a black one identified by Toyota as JG3) has larger gauge green and blue wires coming from the right hand side. Happily, the green is the unlock wire and blue is the lock wire from the front door relay. So all I had to do was use those two wires instead of the single green wire from the grey plug, and it worked perfectly.

If anyone is wondering, I used a fuse tap off the front drivers seat to tap into 12V power.

This is a really simple install and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who regularly parks in tight(ish) car spaces as it definitely gives you more room to walk around. It also has the added benefit of being able to see from a fair distance whether you've locked the car or not (i.e. the mirrors only fold when locked). I've done this on a number of occasions whereby I'll lock the car, walk away, then forget whether I've locked the car and a quick look back shows the mirrors folded so everything is sweet.

Thanks to all those that posted on this forum for the inspiration to do this in the first place and for getting me 95% of the way there with the install.
