Originally posted by Ironman4x4 View PostHi all, i`d like to clarify my position on the Ironman4x4 photo topic. Firstly, these images are taken by myself (Kristian Ristell) using my own equipment, I am an employee of Ironman 4x4, but I am not a professional photographer and I do not get paid for the photos. Whilst I am flattered that many have assumed these are taken by an outside professional, I merely have a keen interest in photography and love doing so on a personal level.
I have previously contacted Pradopoint admin to change my username from Ironman4x4 into my own name, as I wish to continue my involvement in Pradopoint on a personal level being a Prado driver, and not at all related to my work with Ironman 4x4.
I too would agree, that if the vehicle was sign written, it would not be appropriate to submit, however as this is the Prado i drive on a daily basis and the photos are taken by myself, I personally see no reason why these images should be treated any differently than the others.
Just because I work in the 4x4 industry, should not bear any influence of the decision. It was certainly not my intension to post the photos for any advertising purposes.
In regards to your username, you have 18 posts - I could understand if it was 1000+ posts and you wanted to keep all of the information, ranking etc however with 18 posts you could have just created a new user ID, posted some comments on topics and entered the comp, there would have not been an issue - I only picked up on this year due to your username.
I have no issues in your photos being used, they won fair and square but from where I am sitting it still appears as though it is a corporate entry to me. Last year someone from TJM entered a few of their photos under a personal username and these were removed as someone picked up they had seem them on the TJM website...
No offence in any of my comments, you have a great looking 150 and can certainly take a good photo.
Cheers Dan.-----------------------

Thanks for your input, I respect your opinion.
Clearly it was never my intention to hide the fact that I work for Ironman. It is in fact against the competition rules to open a new account for the purpose of the competition, it never really crossed my mind in this way, as who would have thought there would be so much fuss over such a trivial issue.
To be honest I am generally not a frequent forum user, thats why I have not posted much over the years of my forum membership. I`m probably only a member of 3-4 forums in total. I originally opened the Pradopoint account back in 2010 in response to some requests to see the new 150 Prado bar from Ironman, after that proceeded only to use the account for numerous personal reasons, hence why I had requested my username changed into my own name, so I can interact without being instantly labelled as a forum spammer.
Like everyone else I got an email from Pradopoint last week requesting images for the Photo Competition, and as I had some nice photos of my Prado from a recent product development trip to the Simpson Desert its only natural that I decided to enter them.
This is actually the first photo competition I have ever entered in any capacity.
I`m not exactly sure what defines a "corporate image", but unlike professional photographers I do not sell my images, they are free and available to anyone including websites, magazines and of course Ironman to use at their will.
If I had of known this would cause such an issue, I would not have entered them, as honestly this whole thing has actually left me wondering whether I am even welcome in this forum at all since I can't change the fact that I work for Ironman, and if thats enough to be ineligible for participation, so be it.
Thanks to all who voted and for the positive comments.

off topic question, did you do a cape trip in a 76 series wagon and catch up with a guy called Geoff in a Rodeo (he likes to think its a Colorado or Isuzu ute)? If so I think we may have met.
Great images again.

No, that wasn't me, in a 76 series, it would be one of my counterparts Adam, he did a Cape trip a few years back.
Glad we were able to be open and clear all that up.
Subsequently admin have now changed by user name.
Cheers.

Your responses here show intelligence so I do not believe you are so naive that you didn't consider for a second that entering these photos may be considered inappropriate. The fact that you requested a name change confirms that you did have such concerns. Now with your carefully selected words you've made yourself to appear as an innocent victim. Innocence requires being naive - which you are not.
However, the real issue here is the poor way this competition has been managed. Better management would have picked up on this before it became a publicly debated issue. Better management would have also ensured voters had clear instructions so they know how to vote correctly.glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90
