    Mazes

It has been mentioned in an earlier post but thought I would list a few more mazes in the state.

    Tasmazia- http://www.tasmazia.com.au/mazes
    Richmond- https://plus.google.com/117389809359...ut?gl=au&hl=en
    Westbury- http://www.discovertasmania.com.au/a...mazeandtearoom
    Glengarry- http://www.glengarrybushmaze.com/

These are amazing. Plan plenty of time as you can get quite lost in them.

And what about the mountain biking? I've read that around Derby and surrounds has got some great new tracks. That's where I'll be heading.
        Can't we just keep travelling?

The GTG is being loosely based around the north east of Tasmania and we will be traveling through some of the areas where mountain biking has really taken off.

During my last reccie I stayed at Weldborough and the camp ground was over run with mountain bikes so it must be a good area to ride in. The hotel there also supports the bikesso they will hopefully be able to share some information with you.

                      Beaconsfield Mine Centre

Ever wanted to take a trip back in time? The interpretive, hands-on displays will engage, educate or remind you of how life used to be. While you get lost in the nostalgia, chat with the locals and experience the excitement and realities of the elusive hunt for gold. The Centre captures the essence of life in the Tamar Valley, and takes you on a journey through the Tamar’s colourful and historic past.

The Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre is a place where you can lose yourself in history, play with treasures from the past and embark on a historical journey.

You'll be entertained by the interaction and live a different story around every corner with buttons to push, levers to pull, tunnels to crawl through and animals to search for.

We like to think that our centre is a collection of experiences that allow you to enjoy and appreciate the history of Beaconsfield and the Tamar Valley.

We invite you, your family and friends, to ... "come and play with our history"

This is also the site where the mine disater happened on 25th April 2006.

                        Sea Horse Farm

The mystical seahorse has always been a source of immense attraction. However, through fishing and habitat destruction, their numbers globally have dwindled. Seahorse World at Beauty Point, Northern Tasmania, is a unique Australian Government and United Nations approved breeding facility for these (IUCN red list) endangered species providing a captive-bred alternative for aquariums around the world, and an excellent tourism and educational experience.

Just thought I would put up a couple of little towns that offer something different to see or do while touring around Tasmania.

                            SHEFFIELD - Town of Murals
The first mural in Sheffield was unveiled in December 1986. Since then over sixty murals depicting the area's rich history and beautiful natural scenery have been painted on walls scattered throughout the town and buildings along the roadside. The murals attract an estimated 220,000 people to the town annually.

                            http://sheffieldtasmania.com.au/

RAILTON - Tasmania's "Outdoor Art Gallery".
Railton's topiary is one facet of the outdoor art gallery. There are many topiaries underway in various stages of growth. In many instances frames are in place to give a guide on how the topiary will appear once the plants are fully grown. Our walking guide to the topiaries in town can be picked up at shops in the main street. Come and enjoy walking around our town and watch us "grow" each visit.

                            http://www.townoftopiary.com.au/

LATROBE - Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame
Bell's Parade is the site of the Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame and Timberworks. It was here that the first world woodchopping championship was staged in 1891 and the sport was born.
The history of competitive woodchopping is the story of Australia's pioneering bushmen and their families. Sadly, the unique culture and bush skills are dying along with the last generation to work the forests with an axe and crosscut saw.
The Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame and Timberworks is the first national museum dedicated to this aspect of our colonial history. It is also an educational and entertainment centre.

Tahune AirWalk offers a variety of forest walks which will definitely calm the mind, body and soul.
The AirWalk averages heights between 20-30metres above the forest floor, with the very last section, the cantilever, sitting at a height of 48metres above the river and is where you will get the best views.

If you can, camp the night there. It's free. There are a couple of tent spots but it's better for a camper trailer. There is also a lodge there - you can use their showers (at least we did... I think it's allowed)

After they "shut up shop" for the day you can get to the whole AirWalk complex freely. So we want for a wander around it in the evening - by ourselves. Much much nicer than "sharing" it with all the other tourists when we came back the next day.
