Yep did the water crossing, was a group of young guys and girls set up there who told us no worries just stick to the right. We did the righty and set up a snatch on the rear of Blakes car and the bridle and and snatch on the front of mine hedging our bets that they were telling us it's all fine to have laugh at our expense only to find a little mud on the entry, water up to the hubs (didn't even wash the dust off my steps) and a hard bottom.
Some of the ruts would be dead scary in the wet, good reason so check water depths. I'll let Blake describe where we were as it was the first time I had been down that side.
We were out there all day and found a number of great little waterholes( not much flow at the moment)
Spent the best part of a couple hours polishing out bush pinstripes today though and the wash I gave her last night wasn't all that flash in the daylight.
All in all a good day, my 9 year old was pretty done by the end of the day though.
Thanks Blake, see ya for the next one.

Glad you had a good day Kev. Once again sorry bout all the scratches from the detour. I have so many on mine I don't know where to start. It's bloody hot and I Cbf right now.
Glad the boy had a good time but yeah it was a very long day. It took us another hr and a half driving up the Murray fireline to find a campsite. Every one we looked at had someone in it.
But the one we did eventually land at was a cracker. Big spot for three cars right on the river which was quite wide and deep so great for a swim after a long day.

          Ok so trip report time.
We got into Dwellingup just before lunch on Sat and had a quick look at the chalets at the caravan park for future reference. Looks like a good place to go as a group with friends.
Drove straight past The entrance into Lane Pool and down to Dawn Creek Rd. We were going straight to the track to find a campsite and weren't sure how long it would take.
Aired down to 25 psi and off we went.
The first site we looked at was taken by (funnily enough) two of the guys who we did the Nannup Tagalog trip with a couple of months ago.
We wanted a place by ourselves so we moved on even though there was room for us to stay with them.

It seems as though every spot we looked at was taken so we kept moving down the track taking it easy. Had a late lunch at one of the camps that is marked on Hema maps. Huge site but the river was no good to swim so off we went again.

By this time we had gone through a couple of deep ruts and as usual I've forgotten to insert the vids and pics in the right spot ☺️
Tegan and Poppy got out to film it for me. Had a couple of scrapes underneath but all good.

These would be great after a bit of rain. You can see how deep the mud would come up the sides 😃
Will leave the wife and daughter at home then though. Pair of wusses they are.
This second one was great to do after I had to move over for a pair of Pootrols and a 70 to go thru. But they went around the chicken track instead haha. Was very tight so the patrol might have gotten stuck.

Moving on down the track and we found this cracker of a spot right next to a piece of the old logging train track.
It was only just off the main track and a short ten meters to the river. Which was very wide and deep and all to ourselves.

We debated on putting the swags out next to the river but the ground was on a bit of a slope compared to where the car was so we ended up putting them next to the car under the awning.

The water was perfect temp to swim in but the fishing was rubbish. Might have had something to do with the wrong bait though.

The girls found a soldier ant nest right where I had dug a toilet hole and yes both got bitten. Father of the year right here.
Had a restless sleep as there were loads of critters in the forest.

                    Funny story time 😂
Let of a roaring fart in the middle of the night and scared the hell out of something, which went charging off through the bush. I'm thinking it was a pig as it definitely had four feet.

Morning time. Was up early as to get moving as we weren't sure how long it would take to get back to town to meet Kev. We were close to Driver Rd so exited there and headed back up the valley.

This tunnel is for an Alcoa conveyor belt. I heard its one of the longest out there. It's on all the maps and looks pretty bloody long to me.

Found this guy in town. And after a quick coffee and pie from the bakery it was back to the track to get him dirty.

Lots of driving after this spot. Checked out a few more camp sites to mark out for later and we were then off into the unknown 😃
We had only previously done the first section of the track so it was all new for me from here.
There was a short drive the other way down Driver Rd before back into it.
You can tell most people don't do the second half of the track as its a lot easier on the car with less ruts from the idiots in monster trucks.
We chose to follow a side route off the track as I was using waypoints from 4WDinWA. Won't be doing that section again as it was super skinny and where all the pin stripes came from.
                                Sorry mate.

Eventually found a decent spot for lunch on the river so we had a break for a while.
