Captain Fawcett 4wd track Dwellingup

After another bashing through the bush we finally made it back to the track. Stopped and had a check under the cars for damage. Mine was good but Kev had a three foot long stick stuck in his side step.
A short trip down the track and we had gone past quite a few more camp sites. Pulled into one big one to have a look and the guys that were there had an awesome set up right on the river. Three cars and trailers all set up on a big flat section and they were floating in the river drinking beers. Noice 👌



Tegan and Poppy had a quick dip before we climbed up and out.
The guy in the Pajero would have had fun getting his trailer up that hill.

Not long after that we climbed a big long hill next to the river.
Which meant we had to go down the other side. The backside of the hill was much steeper and rutted out with lots of loose rocks on the surface.
My passengers weren't happy about it but there was no other way. Might have had something to do with them being on the side with the big drop down to the river 😜
Would be very interesting in the wet. This was the only pic I could get of Kev as he went down.

Most of this end of the track is very easy, almost road like except for a few big holes from the big wheeled boys.
We had to go around them as I don't think we could have made it through.



Finally made it to the river crossing and boy was it a let down haha
A bunch of young kids were set up there drinking beers and they said it was only knee deep but we still did the righty and got the straps out just in case.
As you can see in the video there was no need to worry.

It was getting late in the day and we weren't going to have the time to find the hill climbs I had marked out so we decided to head back north so Kev could shoot off home and we could try and find another camp site for the night.
Had to do another detour as the road I wanted to use had a sign up saying no entry. Which we later figured was a very old sign as we saw them in lots of places.
Glad we detoured as we stumbled across an old sheering shed and quarters out in the middle of the line plantation. As is always the case it has had squatters in it and they've destroyed the sleeping quarters.

Not long after here we made it back to Driver Rd and said goodbye to Kev. Showed him the way to go home, which he obviously made 😜, and then we went back up the east side or the river on the Murray River Fireline. The road here was more track like but without all the damage on the other side. Very hilly though which is kinda weird but anyways....
Took us ages to find a spot that wasn't taken but we eventually did and it was perfect. Massive expanse of river with rope swings and easy access.

Early to bed that night as we had done a lot of driving and I was stuffed.
Great night sleep and up early to pack up and head home.
Home by lunch, unpacked the car and straight into the shower as it had been a few days 😉
Was a great weekend and it felt like we were out there for a week. Thanks for coming along for a drive Kev and thanks for reading. If you made it this far 😜

Would be keen to try it after we have some rain if there are any takers. Would be very different.

Nice trip report Blake , looks like a great weekend with 4wding , camping , family & friends. Nothing better than that.

Looks like you had a awesome trip, excellent. I love going out there, pinstripes and all. Yeah the water crossing is a let down, but it one. There is some tracks on the left of that crossing and it looks a lot more challenging. Near the shearing shed is a massive hill climb. The Prado made it up, a hilux couldn't go up the same line and the jeep didn't give it a crack - mum bus.

Glad you had a good day Kev. Once again sorry bout all the scratches from the detour. I have so many on mine I don't know where to start. It's bloody hot and I Cbf right now.
Glad the boy had a good time but yeah it was a very long day. It took us another hr and a half driving up the Murray fireline to find a campsite. Every one we looked at had someone in it.
But the one we did eventually land at was a cracker. Big spot for three cars right on the river which was quite wide and deep so great for a swim after a long day.

Good to hear you found a good spot, gee the corrugations are pretty savage on Nanga road aren't they, bloody log trucks have given that a real workout

Yeah it wasn't the best driving through there. I hate how the bends get all chopped up, almost makes you slide sideways it of control

Just an FYI for anyone looking to do this track,
One of my apprentices did the track last week,

Had to turn around at the Long Gully Bridge, as it is burnt down.

Not major issue as it's generally just standard track from a bit before there anyway.
